A little strong perhaps Bob? Like you I will not get chance to watch the match tonight, or probably listen to it on t'wireless. But if Leicester do us a favour tonight I believe that the atmosphere will be amazing at Oakwell. If Watford win, and we don't score in the first 15 minutes on Saturday I can see our fans getting nervous and quiet, which could then transfer to the players which could cause us to **** it up. I don't agree that we dont deserve to go up if we don't beat Barnsley. As I have pointed on several threads, in recent games Barnsley have beaten Brighton, Watford and Leicester at home, and have drawn away at Cardiff, Palace and Forest. They are scrapping for their championship survival and could conceivably get a result against us.
Not often that happens Maybe anger management could be due, if this arctic tiger and circa said that to my face I'd have torn their ****ing throats out there and then.
I had barnsleys form against top sides in mind when saying that. At the end of the day, if it comes to needing a win anywhere against anyone and we couldn't get it, we wouldn't deserve it. Whoever finishes 2nd deserves to be 2nd no matter how they finish there (so long as not subject to dodgy refs or cheating). I think the atmosphere would be better if we still had to et something, it would be alright tomorrow still but without the urgency it just wouldn't be the same. It wouldn't be one of those moments. If we still need to do it ourselves tomorrow and we managed it, tomorrow will be one of those 'I was there' moments in 10 years time. If we're already promoted its just another day out which will soon fade into our distant memories.
After last weeks poor games against Wolves and Brizzle and a week to recharge batteries I can see Barnsley being put to the sword tomorrow. If both play to there best then Hull City will win. Barnsley need City to be woeful imo. As for tonight, unless Lesta want Pearson OUT and play badly there will only be one winner. A draw would make saturday interesting....just.!!
Just for the avoidance of doubt, Hull aren't playing tonight. Obviously I would rather you guys didn't take second (purely because your gain is our loss), but if you do, I hope you secure it yourselves against Barnsley. It would be a really weird atmosphere if it went to the last day, we were to thrash Leeds again, but that wasn't enough.
the crack sales in Hull must be going thro the roof going by what I am reading. Watford lose end of and we are in the top division. people wanting Watford to get something so they can have a "good day out in Barnsley", assuming we get the result we need, really need to stop and think about what they are saying, and let the good days begin once we are promoted
Exactly, if we are already promoted before kick off then surely it will be a better day out in barnsleh anyway?!
I don't think so, won't be the tension, hope and desire. It's a shame Leicester and Watford got moved for sky, it'd be great if we were both 3pm kick off tomorrow, then I think everyone would be more than happy for a Leicester win. Not that I won't be happy if Leicester promote us tonight, I'd just prefer it to happen tomorrow.
Games between us tend to be high-scoring, and despite the stakes I don't think this will be any different. My heart says 3-2 Watford, my head says 2-2.
I appreciate that some would like promotion to be won fairly and squarely at Barnsley, with possibly the music from 'Chariots of Fire' playing over the tannoy system. I don't. I want our promotion won tonight. Will accept promotion anyway we can. We have spent more time in 2nd place since December than any other club and therefore have done enough already to not jeopardize it to any stroke of bad luck or faulty refereeing decision in one match.
John, we haven't already done enough. There's 2 games to go and it's not mathematically sealed. Once/if we get promoted, then we've done enough.
They reckon its now worth £120mill. and hopefully will secure the future of our club. If wanting Leicester to win tonight to give us a bit of a helping hand is wrong, then I am more than happy to be wrong. http://www.fcbusiness.co.uk/news/ar...city+on+the+verge+of+%A3120m+promotion+prize?
This is the important part of the point BS Man is making. Everyone going on about whether we deserve it or not is missing the point completely: we all agree that the team finishing 2nd deserves 2nd. The point is we want to be there when it happens. If it happens tonight then great, I'm certainly not going to be disappointed but I'd rather it was a draw tonight and we get a point or three tomorrow to seal it there and then, celebrate with 5,000 tigers and the players while big Abdy's doing Gangnam Style on his own.
It's not wrong and it's not a bad thing for Leicester to win, obviously it's very good as it seals it for us. Just from a purely personal perspective it would make tomorrow more of an occasion should we win promotion there. We've been over and over and over this, I don't think it can be looked at from any other angles or have anything more said about it. We have established there's a few of us proper fans, and busloads of you flask and blanket tiger travel types. That's it.
