Just listened to Steve Maclaren on this matter. When Suarez was banned before for the incident in Holand. The club Ajax actually banned him themselves as soon as it happened. Does this show liverpool in a bad light for not acting in the same way. The 2 weeks wage fine by them was pathetic in my opinion.
You mods with your double postings!!!! I think he got of lightly with a 7 game ban, If it had been me dishing out the punishment than it would have been twelve games. On the player of the season then only one winner for me at that's RVP, and with old horses head now banned he won't win the golden boot
People have mentioned that it should be a lengthy ban because of the previous bite whilst at Ajax, but would the English FA have been able to take that into account? I doubt it. Overall I think they just about got it right. As previously mentioned he has now had separate bans of 7, 8 and 10 games which says it all really.
Yes,trundles,I think it does "show Liverpool in a bad light". The two week fine was a disingenuos attempt on their part to try and avert a big sanction against Suarez. It backfired and he has his just deserts.
Is it a case of the player being bigger than the club by the club not coming down heavier on him ? Newcastle will be looking foreward to playing them and wont need a tetunus shot before hand now !
Rodgers came out and said that "no player is bigger than the Club". Unless,of course, your name is Suarez.
As I've said before the guy is the pits! Can't wait to see Liverspuds dropping points...................
After his nibble at Ajax he blamed jet lag He said âNo, I do not regret what happened. Normally I always keep calm but I didnât ⦠Iâm a little tired. This week I had to travel a lot.â Twat. Rodgers is being very quiet but there again, he'll do what he's told. Liverpool, who were hoping for just a standard 3 match ban, will be disappointed as the FA have banned him for 10 weeks. Liverpool are currently deciding weather to appeal the ban or not. Liverpool have not come out well in all this. The great Liverpool is definitely dead now, they keep telling everyone what a BIG club they are but they've proven themselves to be just a skanky mid-table club. The Liverpool greats Shankly and Bob Paisley will be squirming in their graves.
Strange defence from Rodgers - keeps falling back on the cultural thing: they did it when he used racist language and now they're doing i twhen he bit a player - he even implied all the cheating is a cultural thing too. Apparently they believe everyone from south America uses racist language, is cynical and cheating etc etc. Seems poor tactics to throw so much behind Suarez, until you see rumours in the press that Suarez is now determined to leave. He is a good player but seriously if they sorted out their scouting they could find other players like him. I don't buy the whole criticism of the punishment on the basis that it doesn't rehabilitate, firstly the FA offered him anger management, and secondly what the hell do they tell him? Don't bite people? Using that as a defence strips away the idea that Suarez should take any responsibility for his behaviour.
David Cameron has put his fourpennorth in,and Rodgers is behaving like a jilted lover. Time for this unseemly affair to be put to bed. For Liverpool's sake, let's hope Suarez grows up,and starts to behave like a normal human being. If he chooses to continue his cannibalistic tendencies there are still some parts of the World that practice it.
the way i see it is suarez deserves his punishment but 10 matches is a bit over the top and inconsistent with other serious offences, Fans talk as if he took a chunk out of his arm or something which he did not, what he did was stupid and immature but he gets himself so engrossed with the game that all sense of reality is forgotten, He is not the first person to ever do it and wont be the last.......He deserves a ban and he needs anger management but don't think for one minute he is the only player who needs that because there are countless players who could do with a course of anger management playing today......I dont blame Liverpool one bit for complaining about the length of the ban as they do have a legitimate point in the fact that you can end a players career with a leg breaking tackle and only get a 3 match ban, Or you can use racist remarks towards a player and get less or even let off.......He deserves a huge fine and a 3 match ban as a 10 match ban is way over the top for something which is not half as bad as ending a players career......Biting gouging squeezing and punching in the kidneys goes on all the time and all they get if caught is a red card....

Other than the Defoe and x2 Suarez incidents, I have never seen a player bite another player on a football pitch.
Dai, he has prior, got 7 weeks, why would you get less for a second offence for the same crime? i would rather be called a white prick than get bitten
