I'm on my phone so I can't link it, but it's on the OWS. How refreshing to hear a player admit that the club lacked ambition in the two seasons prior to this one.
http://www.hullcityafc.net/news/article/mcshane-comeback-interview-april-2013-791287.aspx “We’re in the top two now and we want to get the job finished. It probably should have been done by now, but we’re just keeping the fans on their toes!"
That bit made me chuckle too! The team with him in it has a good chance on Saturday I reckon. What a turn around for the lad.
Amazing really. At the start of the season I wonder what percentage chance most fans wouldve given him of getting an extended contract?
0% Now, hopefully, 100%. It's not even the fact that he's improved dramatically as such, he's always been 'good', it's the fact that he's cut those blood rush moments out and you can actually feel comfortable with him on the pitch.
I've seen a few sarcastic comments for Prem fans about Mcshane coming back to the Premier League, they might be in for a shock when they see the new Mcshane, a leader of men who takes the fight to the opposition! His father died a year or two back and I think this had an effect on him and also Bruce being the no-holds-barred defender he was has also got the best out of Paul I'm sure.
Almost certain this will be the case. Although I suspect the same of Hobbs, great Championship defender but painfully slow and will be exposed in the Premier League, much like Wayne Brown.
I'm not much looking forward to seeing James Chester next season either, if we're in the Premier League. He's been pretty poor this season (by his own standards).
This I totally agree with. I love Hobbs, he's exactly the model pro and leader you want, but he's just too effing slow for the Prem. Still, Turner - who is possibly even slower - is doing average these days so you never know.
You've been very positive with your posts lately. What's happened? Epiphany? I would totally agree though, I was saying at the beginning of the Season that McShane is finally in his last year of contract (Woo, we can get rid of him) but he's turned his performances around so much. I now would love for him to have an extension.
Dont be too sure. For a start the overall quality of the PL is not as high as it was back in 2010 when we left it. Utter nonsense ^^^ this. James Chester will do very well in the PL.
If Mertesacker can make it in the Premiership then any of our lads can, he has the turning circle of the Titanic and I run faster than him yet he keeps Vermaelen out of the team for their lot!
With the right additions in the summer to what the squad is now Hull City can easily be a mid-table PL club. 15th will do nicely.
Chester has done the job of a centre-back and a right-back at times this season covering for Elmo. He definitely prefers playing in a back 4 rather than a back 3/5. I'm more than confident that Chester is good enough, his only errors are aerial threats and there aren't many 'bully' type strikers left in the Premier League.
If we go up and we want to stay up then we'll have spend a lot to achieve it. Half the team isn't good enough for the premier league.
Half is a bit harsh, I can only think of Bruce, Simpson, Proschwitz (although he might be ok as a target man), Devitt and Wilson (although he's quite young, maybe a bit unfair).
Fryatt? Hobbs? Quinn? Boyd? Can't-be-arsed Koren? Elmodroppedfromapoorsunderlandsidehamady? And so on and so forth...
Hobbs is more than good enough for the premier league.. what a joke And stockdales weakness is shots underhim.. he get's beaten there far too much.. his aerial ability in corners and such will improve.. it's why when schwarzer was injured a season or two back stockdale came in and did fantastic hence the talk of an england call up.. He's a solid keeper, and not being able to get in ahead of veteran schwarzher doesn't mean he's bad.. as his overstudy is a mammoth and stockdale is young for a keeper.. maybe he needs to lose some weight to get low quicker
