I've taken the 2/1 Quevega, she's going to crush those 2 hounds Solwhit and Rev De Sivola

Limegrove runs today at Lingfield in the first. I put her up when she was withdrawn earlier in the week. As she's only 6/4 today i'm not going to bother backing her but I do think it will take something quite useful to beat her.

    Hello lads.

No golf today (played GMac's home course yesterday) due to the rain so time for the first bet of the week.

I'm going to play on Pass The Hat 5/1 e/w 4.15 Punchestown

He has taken time to adjust to fencing but h'capping was always going to be his game after three runs out the back in decent novice events. He ran OK behind Competitive Edge in his first outing in open company but stepped up on that with a decent second place finish at Fairyhouse after never getting into the race and running on late.

The third in that event,Klepht, won the big h'cap 'chase last night off 1lb higher so the form has a solid look to it.PTH is raised 2lb's which is fair enough and leaves him on a very workable 120 (he won easily off 116 over timber) and with more improvement likely he looks sure to be in the shake up.

There is a suspicion he may be better over slightly further but the likely fast pace and heavy ground,on which he has won on,can help offset that.

Anything can happen in a big field h,cap 'chase so i'm playing e/w with 4 places at 1/4 odds on offer.

Good show on AP on SS2 currently.

    GL all.

Signed up to Boyle Sports and taken their £20 first bet, £40 free bet offer; the latter which I may well put on SMP's flat tip from his source over the weekend.

The former is going on a treble- Quevega (2/1), Big Shu (4/1) and Bostonbob's Limegrove (6/4). Pays odds of 73/2.

I'm a little puzzled by the 2/1 on Quevega, especially from Ladbrokes.

Solwhit is a fabulous horse, and he is also a machine on soft ground and in fact I was hugely surprised by his performance at Aintree on that fast surface.

However, in his 3m hurdles, who has he beaten? he was chased home by blinkered handicapper Holywell last time out. He saw off Celestial Halo at Cheltenham, with Reve De Sivola rumoured to have had an awful prep, Lovcen who simply runs 3rd or 4th consistently, Grands Crus couldn't see out of a window never mind see out a race this season, Peddlers Cross is shocking, Oscar Whisky was both below form and stamina sapped, whilst Zaidpour and So Young were given two of the poorest tactical rides in World Hurdle history- held up for the Gold Cup the next day they were that far back. Bog Warrior needed more rain.

Quevega receiving 7lb must be the value bet at 2/1. I know her form does not always stack up but she had everything wrong at Cheltenham and still won going away.

Fascinating Classic trial at Sandown tomorrow.

Sugar Boy's paticipation affords us the chance to assess BOM's credentials in comparison to some English form.

That actually looks like a fairly watchable event Dex doesn't it? I'd be surprised if any were good enough to win a Classic but as a stand alone group 3 it's decent fayre.

The Champion Novice hurdle tomorrow has the look of an absolute battle royal between the two Mullins horses. Race of the day for me.

    Afternoon troops :)

One from my tracker - Extraterrestrial 17-45 Newcastle, 15-8 available, not great but I expect this to go in. Race readers don't say so, but I watched his last race and am convinced with a clear run he'd have been a lot closer.
Punchy selections - Quevega all the way, 2-1 grabbed with both hands. You won't be surprised to see me going for Realt Mor again. Down in trip, but Danny can still ride 'em to sleep again. 11-2 not a great price considering the strength of opposition, but BOG, and I expect it to drift. Harpsy Cord in the 16-15 is a dodgy character but 10-1 ew is worth having a punt with. I'm leaving the 4 miler alone, obvious as Big Shui is, these Irish stamina tests seem to go along the lines of "who's turn is it to win today?"
And I'm sticking with Hendo's Captain Cutter in the bumper.

I'm going to be internet restricted for the next few days, so I won't be able to post three times about how good I am <laugh>

Good luck lads - I feel we might need it! <ok>

Agree Bob,not a bad event with three Irish raiders adding extra interest.Imperial Monarch took it last year for O'Brien.

It used to be a real proper Derby trial in the past with Troy,Henbit,Shergar and Sharistani all taking it en route to Derby glory in nthe early 80's.

I don't have stats Bob but I prefer to see them running on a sounder surface, but that is based on my beliefs that Monksland would be a better horse on good ground. He is a good mover so perhaps other progenies are. I have no evidence though I am afraid!

Beneficial had good form on sft,gd/sft through to good/firm and his offspring seem to act on anything.

Salsify and benefficient for example are better on good ground but have won on easier ground...some others prefer softer such as Monksland and Mount Benbulben.

Thats as much as I know!
