Your thoughts of the Premier legue team of the season involving only English players. My attempt below: ---------------Foster-------------- Clyne-- Jagielka-- Ferdinand-- Baines ----------Carrick --Jones------------- Welbeck-------Wilshere------Rodriguez ---------------Lambert--------------- Some contraversial decisions. I put Jones in because of his performance in big games, Wilshere because when ha has played, he's been head and shoulders above others in that position. Rodriguez gets the nod because of his recent form and frankly I was too lazy to think of anyone better. I'd say Baines, Carrick, Lambert and Ferdinand were the only ones in there that are obvious choices...the others much more likely to polarise opinion. Honourable mention. Honourable mentions to Gerrard, Lampard and Cork as well. Anyway I'd be very interested to ehar other people's thoughts!
I think Rooney has been outstanding in the last few United games in midfield and he would have to start for me.
All the Swansea supporters I spoke with on Saturday and Sunday were really impressed with Clyne and Cork. It is a pity they did not get to see Luke Shaw as they would have been green with envy.
--------------Kelvin--------------- Clyne- Aaron Martin-Seabourne-Shaw ----------Cork---JWP----------- Puncheon---Lallana---Rodriguez ------------Lambert---------------
That's very good, and it set me thinking. That's more than a half decent team, but I wonder how many of the Premier League clubs could put out one just as capable..? Sign of the times..?
Can we use the "I'd rather be on the side of Hodgson and Ferguson!!!!" argument again? I liked that one. Then, can we use it on you saying Rooney has been bad this season?
-------------Foster Clyne---Jagielka---Ferdinand---Baines ----------Carrick---Cork Walcott-----Lampard-------Rodriguez -------------Lambert
DAMN. Gotta rethink this. Edit: Changed to Cork. In my defense, Morrison is English but plays for Scotland because he's a tit.
-----------------Foster -Johnson-Jagielka--Shawcross--Baines------ ----------Cork----Carrick----------- -Walcott----Rooney-----Rodriguez--- -------------Lambert-------------------
I didn't say Rooney had been bad this season, I said he's run hot and cold, he's still better than most other players (although he has had games recently where he has been unambiguously poor). However, Welbeck has been preferred over Rooney for some of United's most important games (such as against Real Madrid) so I think if Fergie had to pick one he'd probably pick Welbeck.
I don't know if you could put Rodriguez in, until the last few games he was not on many people's radar and scored about as many as Danny We- actually never mind. It depends whether you are saying "team of the year" or "team of right now", when it comes down to it no one remembers the first part of the season, which is why players like Michu miss out come award time, unfairly in my opinion. As for the Saints team, you could always put Paul Williams and Jason Dodd in... Actually we can make a pretty decent back four out of our coaches. Jaidi and Pochettino anyone? Adkins can go in goal.
