A very good morning Ladies and Gentlemen, The brother of Christopher Loftus, the Leeds fan knifed to death in Turkey 13 years ago is due in court today over an FA Cup brawl in January. Andrew Loftus, 42, is one of 11 men aged 17 to 51 accused of affray after fights between 40 Leeds and Tottenham supporters. Of the 11 due in court, six are from Leeds, three from South Yorkshire, one from Bradford and one from Harrogate. Our new home shirt has been unveilled. What is everyones thoughts? To me, I'd prefer a more traditional plain white one. Must admit, I'm not a great fan of Macron. Thoughts? Gus Poyet is claiming that the Leeds fans want HIM in charge at the club. You'll remember big 'Gus' was part of the Management team during 2006/07 with his former team mate Dennis Wise. He certainly is not backwards in coming forwards. Aparantly GFH would not pay 2.5m to bring Poyet to Elland Road, and who can blame them. Poyet has not achieved anything significant YET, so the gamble is just too high, surely. That 2.5m would be better put towards the transfer kitty. Instead of paying out 200k-400k for a player, if we can capture a bit more quality, we'll have a better chance of going up. Who's the player of the season? Who's the biggest disappointment?
Morning Elland, and all joining I agree it would have been far too big a risk to splash 2.5 million and bringing Gus in. While a lot of the fans do really like him, I can't imagine the unrest at the news that we spent that much before giving him a minuscule transfer fund to work with as a result. Especially when managers like our mighty McDermott were out there and available for free! For me, player of the season has to be Byram. I've been really impressed by how he has matured and developed. I'm not sure who I'd pick out as the biggest disappointment. A few weeks ago I'd have a list as long as, well, our squad list . But with the performances of individuals picking up, Varney and Austin to name but two, I'm starting to rethink all of that and lay more and more blame at Warnocks feet for not getting these players performing.
Morning all. Personally, I really like the new shirt. As for 2.5 m to bring in Gus, GFH won't be paying that for managers, training grounds or players. That's clear to supporters living in the real world. THe few in cloud cuckoo probably believe different. I'm glad we've McDermott anyway. Always liked him anyway and if any manager can coax a few quid from the gfh piggybank, it would likely be him. Isn't it marvellous to see German football as the best in Europe again. Full houses, great fast football, not ridiculous wages, large numbers of home based players, they have certainly got it right. Compare atmosphere at dortmund match last night to the old toilet on a cl night. Difference Dortmund fans are proper supporters with a passion for their club, much like ours. The scum, arsenal, chelsea fans etc dont seem to give a toss
Hate the new shirt Poyet can eat a dick Byrams most impressive Pearce the biggest disapointment Morning all
Short and to the point! I actually completely forgot about Pearce while thinking about who was the biggest disappointment. I'd agree with you on that one
So who do we think BM is going to get the best out of next season? I rate Warnock at the back & I think McCormack will thrive under a manager like McDermott. Byram will only get better (we all hope) And it will be interesting to see how Lees develops now he isnt under instruction to send it long. I also think Green maybe one to surprise us next season & with Austin getting a break we may see the complete player we have seen glimpses of. (Someone teach him how to play an easy pass!)
Morning peeps! I'm indifferent on the new shirt, it may grown on me I'm not a fan of macro either though tbh! What's everyone's thoughts on the Chris Humphry link? He's a Jamaican international so Ruddy could have a bit of influence in bringing him in too!
Morning all. Don't think Poyet would be worth the money, but I could be proven wrong. Quite like the new shirt, although its similar to both ano old Chelski kit and that of a very old Brum kit (showing my age again!!). On best and worst, best is clearly Byram. Worst, I can't decide. Too many players have played out of position & therefore not a fair comparison. Not a great season all round, but we go into 2013/14 full of hope.... marching on together even!!! We have a good manager, new investment (althought it will be interesting to see how much BMD actually gets to spend), our yoof coming through, and only two or 3 decent players short of a very good squad. Going forward, I really would like to see Hall and Habibou start one or both of our final two games. Surely BMD needs to see them in a game environment for a good 60 to 70 mins at least to decide whether or not hold on to them. I also think if Brown can be taught to stay on his feet, he can be the anchor of a potentially impressive diamond formation. Quite who would play at the head of that diamond is open for question, McCormack, Diouf, even Dawson. An exciting season ahead me thinks so long as we can hold onto Byram and co.
I've gotta agree with Byram for our player of the season, no contest really is there!? I can't believe after signing Hall he's been given absolutely fa chance to go out and prove what he's all about. I know we don't see him in training but NW worked with him before and if he had no intention of playing him why the hell are we paying his wages? Maybe another NW balls up! I've got to admit, I was actually happy when we first got NW in but I'll readily hold my hands up and admit I was wrong with my faith in him *sigh* Boggers - I think Dioufy in the top of that diamond is a match made in heaven
Morning TOM hope your well fella! I dont know enough about Chris Humphrey is he any good? He's a winger I think, but doesnt seem to get too many goals. Either way, a down point is the travelling the Jamacians need to do, but if he is good enough we will work around that! Your right not to be a fan of Macron. Regardless of design the quality is the worst I have ever seen. Pro star (sunday league stuff) is three times the quality of that crap. I kid you not.
Morning Bucks I'm ok, been SO busy with moving house (again, lol... it seems i'm always moving!) How are you pal? I haven't been posting so much on here recently I don't know too much either tbf, that's why I thought I'd put it out there... does any of our friends north of the border know much about him? Celtic wanted him apparently, although that may not count for too much these days. I wouldn't mind an umbro design like the lille kit tbh, the one with the neck piece thingy! I quite like that... a nice white top with a yellow neck piece with blue trim sounds lovely to me I don't know what the quality of them are like though!
Morning Durham, Great match thread fella.... Couldn't agree with you more about Byram. For me the biggest dissapointment is Pearce. We splashed out circa 500k, and he is not a half million pound player. The other big dissapointment is Kenny. Too many mistakes....
Morning Eire, I had 50 quid on a Real Madrid victory, though at half time, just after Real equalized, I put 40 pounds on Dortmund as their odds went to 15/8, and I'm glad I did. Dortmund have only spent a fraction of the price of Real, good luck to em
Morning all, hate the blue stripe down the middle, we're Leeds United, we play in all white (with a bit of yellow and blue trim on collar and cuffs maybe) - simples! This shows me LUST's influence is diminishing by the day, as surely, representing 8,500 fans, if they had any say whatsoever we wouldn't have ended up with this catastrophe of a design. Spurs, Swansea and Bolton look more like Leeds United than we do! Player of the season Byram, most disappointing Morison, I didn't realise just how bad he actually is! Bucks Green's not bad but I think we can do better than him, loses possession too easily when we're on the attack and we get caught on the counter. Ok for a squad player though
Sale Sharks fly-half Danny Cipriani is set to leave hospital later on Thursday after being hit by a bus in Leeds. The fly-half suffered concussion in Wednesday's incident and was kept in hospital where he has undergone X-rays.
