Ok, the idea of this thread is to suggest a rule change that you would like to see in F1. Not something like "Massa to win a race" or "Vettel should be given extra ballast", an actual rule, or a change to an existing rule, that you would like to see come into affect. Each week, we can discuss a different idea put forward by someone on the forum and at the end of the week we can declare whether we would implement it or not, if we were the ones who were in charge. I'm going to suggest one to start us of... I think that DRS should be amended by having a smaller opening. Don't get me wrong, I'm not utterly against the system itself. I do think though that they've gone just a bit too far with it.
I'll take part in next week's proposed rule, I really am sick of all the DRS/artificiality/improving the show debate. Seems to be the same points being raised before, during and after every grand prix.
rules on exhausts? this seems to be the biggest area of advantage between teams. though I dont agree with restricting teams at all
Alonso vs Vettel vs Hamilton vs Rosberg vs Kubica all in identical machinery. Too see who is the greatest of this era
Shouldn't this thread be called "Changes We'd Like To See" since it's about adding new or amending existing rules? I mean, a scene I'd like to see is Alonso and Hamilton fighting wheel to wheel for victories throughout the season. The size of the DRS slot gap needs to be controlled by the driver, but I've mentioned it elsewhere so I'll not dwell on it here. I agree with the widely expressed opinion that DRS use should be free all around the circuit if within a second behind (which could easily be measured by a car-mounted system such as sonar, telemetry broadcasts, or guessing).
Well, I was hoping that people might recognise the thread title from the show Mock The Week. Clearly, the subtle link of the title and general idea of the thread hasn't kicked off in quite the way I'd imagined.
The concepts are different though, F1 Scenes we'd like to see would be something like: Unlikely things to hear on Alonso's Radio.
The DRS rule needs amending, give them free reign to use it whenevr and where ever they like, but limit it's use to either a number of times they can use it(cosi's idea I think), or it's total useage time (my personal favorite), then it can be used as both attack and defence.
Several specifications I'd like to see the rules changed to allow cars to look noticeably different. Its then up to the designers to exploit several choices for dimensions.
Aww - I didn't mean to draw that comparison, Fred - different thing entirely. I just meant none of us are answering his original point.
Well I tryed to answer it. I'm just saying its a great thread though I think it will get better its most of our younger members would be at school or having a study day forgetting to study :L
just let them use it whenever they please, as in qualifying. For sure the bravest ones open DRS when they hit the apex and are able to place an attack. the overtake is succeeded, they have to counter because the one passed driver will be back in an instant, mmmh perhaps...
A bigger KERS (like 120 instead of 82 hp) which is bound to use with DRS. So just one button instead of two. And this button can be used for a limited time, lets say 300 seconds per race, but anytime a driver wishes.
