    Not being funny but here we are reading articles linking us with Gervinho and Gameiro and we cant even tie down a player we already have. ffs Ashley thinks he can do things on the cheap still. You cant.

    I'm with Cal on this one, just wait and see. Willie McKay is a renowned **** stirrer and he's no doubt trying to piss Ashley & Co off so they push a new contract through sooner rather than later.

    I can see this one being true. They want to sign young players and develop them. Giving Barton 5 year contract will mean he will be 33 by the time it expires.

    The most likely scenario will be him getting sold in the summer. Ashley won't want to lose him for nowt.

    It has to be said though he has been offered a new contract but turned it down. So when McKay says 'no new offer' he means no new offer since the last offer.

    Think his agent just want to send out a clear message to Lambiarse and Ashley that they want a better contract offer.

    Besides , if say he'll see out the rest of his contract it means anything can happen in these 12 months. 12 months is a very long time and enough time to restart negotiations.
