Couldn't see a thread anywhere else so I thought I'd start it. Nominees Gareth Bale - 18 goals - 7 assists Robin Van Persie - 24 goals - 8 assists Luis Suarez - 23 goals - 5 assists Juan Mata - 10 goals - 13 assists Eden Hazard - 9 goals - 11 assists Michael Carrick - 1 goal - 4 assists Not quite sure how Michu misses out. IMO Gareth Bale should win.
They play for "big" clubs. Same reason why a striker who scored 1 goal all season is up for YPOTY. Id put Michu in the top 4 along with monkey and rat boy and RVP.
Has to be Bale, but should be Michu. Spurs without Bale = no chance of top 4 Swans without Michu = fighting relegation
Carrick and RVP have been excellent this season, but it is always attacking players that win the awards. An alternative PFA team of the year (including players from teams that do not count according to the author) has been included in this article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/b...cup-final-fans
Me too. RVP is the main reason ManYoo have won the league back. But Bale gets my vote. The consistency he has performed "miracles" on has been simply sensational. The definition of a one man team, Spurs this season. ...and some decent tactics from AVB.
From a purely football perspective: Suarez Without him Liverpool would honestly be battling relegation, they'd be where Newcastle are now All things considered: Bale Spurs would be below Liverpool and Everton but for him, everything seems to run through him and his attitude/the way he carries himself is brilliant. I think it's harsh on Mata and Carrick, both of whom have been consistent all season but they aren't really "glamour" players. In this country there isn't a real appreciation for the Xavi/Iniesta type players and its all about Messi/Ronaldo etc.
Bale closely followed by RVP.. Carrick one of those player's you don't really notice has had a great season too!
Bale...because he is so indispensable to Spurs, but to the neutral he is so exciting to watch and he has produced it for Wales too. The same applies to RVP, but he has a better team behind him (Carrick) and so it is easier for him to look good. What I said about Bale sort of applies to Michu too. So my 1-2-3 Bale Michu RVP
After his 3 the other night, save off his own line and another superb strike that went narrowly over, all to clinch the PL, I can't see how anyone but RVP takes Player of the Year.
Carrick for me, like Butt often not seen when doing his job well, you only have to see the praise the United supporters put on him to see his value but I'd rather not hear 45 mins of that dirge again, one good thing about going down.. Bale and Sir Munchalot have put there teams where they are this season but I still think the engine room of teams gets over looked.
