<somersault> And it will be for the rest of the week.....

Where in your opinion is the best beach in the British Isles and Ireland for a quick break?

My choice is Bosham, West Wittering near Chichester, W.Sussex.

    wittering-east-head.jpg

I need to venture further afield.

Does anyone else know any other hidden gems?

Some long sandy beaches in the North of Cornwall worth checking out if you don't mind going of the beaten track a bit. Blackpool if you want a hot dog next to a fruit machine. Bournemouth if you want to go clubbing after your day on the sand. Ireland if you want a proper break from it all. <ok>

Take a jolly boys outing to margate, beach is lovely but watch out when eating too many jellied eels!

I have one I grew up on: long walk from Holywell in Eastbourne and watch tides but I usually have this to myself or have done on countless occasions:

Some of the best beaches are found in Northumberland but its a long bloody way and inevitably freezing when you get there.

    I'd say Croyde Bay, Devon

With DT about the beaches around the Beziers area of France, but i would also venture a tad further south towards the spanish border, St Cyprien onwards, simply stunning....

Is the Riviera cafe still there Dave? I used to go to Selsey in the early 80's.

That looks amazing. I'll check it out. I'm still looking to get away for a week. Cheers Dave.

The beaches at Abersoch, North Wales, are very nice. Shame about the Welsh.

South Wales, the Gower Peninsula has some stunning beaches...Rhossili is beautiful, and often good for surfing.

    rhossili_bay.jpg

    or Three Cliffs Bay...

    Three Cliffs Bay.JPG

Two of my favourites there, and the Gower is beautiful.

    Has to be Felixstowe.

They've removed the sewerage and you can feel each pebble under your hiking boots as you trudge along it's plentiful, natural extent.

If you finish your day at sunset (behind you as you gaze out wondering if a lilo and a paddle is enough to escape) then you avoid the rush of adolescents in their clamour to imbibe copious alcohol under the pier and enhance the nations teen pregnancy statistics.

    Truly breathtaking.
