As we enter the last 4 games, and edging slightly closer to safety, Hughton has, altought slightly welcomed dilema in between the sticks. With Ruddy back and fully fit again, would it be right fot Hughton just to drop Bunn after what has been to be honest a strong performance for a back up keeper for the past 5 months, to welcome Ruddy back or should Bunn carry on till the end of the season and let Ruddy get completely sorted ready for pre-season and the start of next. Here's what the boss has to say on the matter... http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/...ion_poser_for_premier_league_run_in_1_2162398
Really difficult dilemma considering Bunn has managed to keep a lot of clean sheets. It's a matter who is performing well in training as I don't think Bunn has really done anything wrong in recent games, his been a victim of injustices more then anything. Bunn is easily the most improved player of the season I wasn't comfortable with him to start with but he got his act together and has been a brilliant bit of business.
Agree that Bunn has excelled himself. Tough on him, but it has to be Ruddy for me. When a top player is fit again after an injury, you play him, it's a no-brainer.
Can't argue with any of that. Bunn has been an able deputy and has improved immensely over the last few months. How many on here wanted Foster back instead of JR?
I am going to remain consistent with what I said some weeks ago when this topic first appeared. Now we are just about "safe" (I am now 99% sure we are) I would keep Bunn in goal........... 1. As a reward for his efforts to date. 2. Give big John more time to "fully" recover and he will be back in goal for the July and August friendlies. If, and to my mind it is becoming a big IF, we appear to be getting sucked back in to the scrap (i.e. Lose the next two games and Wigan are within striking distance (i.e. - they win two of their next 3 games)) then maybe JR should be considered but even then it comes down to the nature of the goals conceded. Most of us felt Bunn mat have done better for the Reading goal (not blaming him) but I have always maintained I feel MB is just a little too short and quite a number of balls end up just out of his reach which result in goals or completed crosses followed by a goal. If we are in the mire after the next two games then I think CH has to do everything possible to stop the goals going in, starting right at the very back. It is not just his extra reach but his overall presence that could make the difference.
Bunn has greatly improved during his time in the team, but Ruddy is an England international and should be recalled. we are not likely to start Cinemon instead of Holt are we? so the same applies to the goalie position.
Bunn has been an excellent deputy and has performed extremely well - it could have all gone tits up when JR was injured but Bunn has proved himself a very capable keeper. However, if Ruddy is fully fit he should play - he's our No 1 and as such should always be first choice - especially in the big games to come against the Potters (where his extra height might be needed) and the Villains. It's no sleight on Bunn who has been brilliant imo, but it has to be Ruddy every time.
It has to be Ruddy if hes fully fit. Bunn knows his place in the squad when he signed which is no 2 to Ruddy. I am glad that he has had a run in the team though as it has showed how good he is and shows that he will will push Ruddy. We still want to get as many points as possible and if Ruddy is fit we will have more chance of doing that.
Ruddy for me, nothing against Bunn as he has been excellent it is just that the height factor for playing Stoke next
I defo think Bunn has improved and I have really grown to like him. He hasn't put a foot wrong lately but just think he could of done better with the goal v Reading but so should've the defence
Hi bors, bit of mixed selection by our fans on who plays in goal. I severely criticised Bunn for lack of concentration in the Liverpool away game but since then his performance has kept us in this league, he has improved as the season has progressed. I opt for Bunn to continue the season out, gives JR more time to make sure he suffers no ill effects from his thigh injury and next season both players will have to fight to wear the number one jumper. Been a great signing, congratulations to our scouting staff for finding him.
i've said before its a no brainer for me, got to be Ruddy. As good of a deputy as Bunn's been, He's no Ruddy & i don't think Readings goal would have beaten him from there ? He's been first choice for so long now, so form doesn't come in it for me, as long as he's fit he should start.
heart says ruddy, but head says Bunn. it's not just about him being fully fit, surely he is going to be rusty having not played for 5 months. do we want an up-to-speed Mark bunn or a potentially rusty Ruddy in goal for a crucial game at Stoke? it's a tough one.
Given that Arsenal and maybe Manure are in the market for a new keeper for next season why take the risk of Ruddy playing a couple of blinders at the end of the season to rmind them of his ability. Bring him back after a solid pre-season. Slight o/t I see Rudd is keen to return to Preston next season. Should we sell or loan him out again next season?
