I've been thinking, Its obvious that Adomah loves this club as does the club love Adomah. He is a great player at championship level. One of the best wingers in this league. So how good would he be in league 1, Arguably one of the best players. He has a year to run on his contract and I cant see us getting more than 1.5 million for him now. I would keep Adomah and let his contract run out. A league 1 team with AA in is a much better one. He can help us gain promotion and he could end up giving us more than what we would get for him in the summer. Thoughts? please log in to view this image
Not quite sure on this one and the thing that galls me is that he went to the African Cup when he coud have helped the plight of the team that he's supposed to love so much. I have no problem with the fact that he is a good player but I get the impression that he only gives his best when he feels up to it and that is a negative in my mind. If someone comes along and offers us 1.5 million then I think he should go because we don't want to end up with another Nicky situation. Let's wait and see what the board decide and then we can move on to our next season.
Yeah no point keeping him if he will be on the bench. Perhaps only limited starts since SOD's arrival might persuade him to leave.
Albert's second half against Bolton showed what a good footaller he is. Assuming he put the same amount of effort into the whole of next season, we should keep him and let him go on a free if he wants to at end of next season. BUT let's assume we got a net figure of £1,500,000 for him after Barnet's sell on clause and SL allowed that to be all spent on players salaries for the coming season. At a weekly wage of £5,000, which I assume is probably very, very good for up and coming younger players in League One, that would provide for EIGHT MORE ADDITIONS TO THE SQUAD. Which would benefit Bristol City most? Over to you chaps! I know which I would choose!
Come on Mike, the Cup of Nations is the African equivalent of the European Championships albeit held more often. If he was English and selected fo the Euro's, would you expect him to say no to England first team squad..? - I'll wager the answer to that is no so I don't know why you would expect Albert to say no to Ghana..??!!! signing good players who are able to play in the competition is something you have to factor in from the off... As for his committment to the club, I disagree - he loves to play football and has been loyal to date, expressing no desire to leave.I suspect that the drop in form since his return was due to arriving back to find a different manager with different ideas in charge. Having been used to a free attacking role, he struggled to adapt to a more disciplined approach but as cider says, he was unstoppable against Bolton...
Knew you would come back at me Prem and my argument is not specifically against Alert but more to do with the fact that the tournament is every year right in the middle of our season and has given lot's of teams problems. Obviously I like for our players to get international recognition, but every january, come on.
At least some movement but I still can't understand why it is not every 4 years at the same time as the European finals. That schedule would make more sense to me and not get the major clubs, where most of the African players ply their trade, ticked off at losing their employees for a month during the season.
Simple...................dont sign Africans.....or maybe widen it to any foreigners.....? If I were Albert of course I'd want to go and represent my country. If I were SOD and didn't know where or when to play Albert then it's best all round that he is allowed to leave. In L1 he would or should be an absolute superstar, but it would also depend on his appetite to play and perform at that level again.
You must stop using your sensible brain and think like the authorities instead. Governments and Football Authorities rarely do anything logical or sensible.
I would keep him, because we're unlikely to get a lot of money for him. Also, even if we get a lot of money it probably won't be reinvested in the playing squad right away.
We won't have any say in the matter. We'll get an offer and the board will say yes. I'll agree with them.
i would sell - would be gobsmacked if we got more than £1m Don't forget that next season we will play games in international week, so if he's in the Ghana squad he won't play for us
I reckon you should sell him to us for 1m. I think something that a lot of you aren't factoring in is he is a class act at this level, I really can't see him wanting to go down to L1 when he has the opportunity to play in a team that will be looking for promotion. It wouldn't surprise me if a few clubs that were in that position wouldn't be looking at a player like him who might be a bit cheaper given the fact he only has 1 year left on his contract
I'd probably sell him for £1M, what with his commitments to the African Cup of Nations in such an important season. However, one reason why the fans here are even contemplating selling him is because he is an inconsistent player. When he started out with us he was unplayable at Championship level. However, over time he has become complacent and often anonymous in matches. I'd happily sell to you guys because you're a good side who will likely move forward to the Premier League in the next three years, and for the first time in a long time you have a likeable manager that can get some good out of you, but I can guarantee that Adomah would be fantastic, but infuriating for you.
Funny that this time last year when I suggested that this will be his highest value with us, others said keep him. Now we are talking about 1 million max, and to be honest even that would surprise me. Why didnt we do this last year when others were sniffing around. That's 2 now in 18 months gone or going at a cheap rate.
