...Apparently. Taking from the Thread "How on earth..." on the Ipswich Town board. dreadful longball team? Cannon fodder? Is he Nick Miller in disguise?
Nah, it doesn't seem ****ish enough to be Nick Miller. Just ignore it - these people have been force-fed by the media the idea that we are a dire long ball team, based on 2 or 3 games. If they saw games such as Leeds (both home and away), Birmingham 5-2, Millwall 4-1, Watford 2-1, Bolton 3-1, they would likely have to change their minds.
To be fair,a lot of people will roll the same way, having seen our recent performances on sky. They didn't see our 'under the radar stuff'. But then again, who thinks we could have got where we are,by being **** ?
I'm a Watford fan - we've had a cracking tussle this year and if you go up automatically it will be richly deserved. I hope we both go up obviously! All the best!
Rough quotes these, but Zola after the away game..."There a one off,in this league,no one else plays that way". And Colin..."Leeds fans have nothing to worry about,we'll have investment, and we'll compete, definately, but we won't get anywhere near Hull...forget that".
Hit the nail in the head there, the only time fans of other teams will have seen us play is the games against them and those that were on sky. Given our woeful sky performances this season (excluding Bristol away) it's not hard to see why people have these opinions. Like you say, we wouldn't be in second if we were as **** as people say we are.
What's annoying is when people base an entire opinion on our performances on Sky without seeing our earlier Season form where we playing arguably the best football in the League. That Nick Miller was doing it, and still gives grief to City fans on Twitter now. People need to back up their opinion by looking at it as a whole as opposed to basing it on seeing us play against difficult defensive sides on T.V. (i.e. Burnley, Huddersfield and Bristol City).
Can't see how Ipswich can call us a long ball team, that's all they did for 90 minutes! Include launching it long from every throw in!
To be fair Sheff Wed played us off the park in what was arguably our worst performance of the season!
It wouldn't have been Hull City though if we'd have performed well in those games. Teams in the bottom 3, being on Sky and doing things the hard way have become almost tradition for City recently.
whats lost on some is that until 2 games ago City were in a realistic position to top the table with 4 remaining , What does that say about Cardiff , who have bee on form throughout the season , Their blip came at the business end - like most championship chasing clubs and along with many many champions at individual events . McIlroy Murray and Jimmy White to name 3
Well said. From the neutral's perspective, the televised games are what they see, and whoever goes up will get more of them. That gives them right to want the team they find more enjoyable to go up, but not the right to say a team with four more points than us are not worthy.
