Consolidation by virtue of a mid-table finish is my expectation. It would also be nice to have a good cup run to keep the money coming in, this helps raise the profile of the club and hopefully that will keep the owners happy; the latter is important because we need the stability going forward.
Yes this is true Fran a sad fact of football life. In truth I do not expect too many changes but I'm not the manager. I have heard that there is to be an announcement any body know what this is all about?
Most of the opinions on how we will do next season are based on the current squad, but we don't know yet what money will be made available and there is no doubt in my mind some areas need improving. As has been mentioned above, sadly some players will be shed but there is no sentiment when it comes to the business side of football. The management said from day one that investment would be in keeping with the league we are in, so I would expect a reasonable amount of funds to be given to NA in the close season. When we know who we have signed up then we will know just how ambitious our owners are and what as fans we can aspire to. Footballwise, these last two seasons have been great, our owners have been great and our manager is great. Optimism is a reletively new experience as a Saints fan but I'm on the bus to optimismland.
Beddy, Jordan Sibley, club spokesman, said on twitter last night: "Great night on the way home from Plymouth. Hold tight for some big news tomorrow. #saintsfc". No idea what it is though. Something on the new kit? Season Tickets? Players re-signing?! Eek!
Cheers for that Rich........have been wondering...........I bet they don't volunteer to buy my season ticket next season though........It's no good will have to sell my body to pay for it...........Get in the queue, get in the queue!!
From what I have seen of the championship this season and from what my brothers (Leicester fans) tell me about the shockingly poor quality there this season I fully expect us to be challenging for the top six. I think Martin is good enough to partner Fonte. I think Dale Stephens will prove to be a good acquisition (assuming we make his signing permanent). Lallana and Schneiderlin will both be top top players next season. Chamberlain will probably leave but with 10 million to re-invest that won't necessarily be a problem. We need a top striker to support Lambert. Connolly should be kept on for 12 months but cannot be relied upon. I don't feel Barnard will be good enough (if available!!). All in all this season was fantastic and looking forward to more of the same next season.
~Very grounded set of fans, & that's not a bad thing, in fact it probably helped that we didn't know what to expect.
Funny thing is we have been and are still flirting with relegation , but could still finish top half .
Yes, got that Joe The Optimist. I always dream wildly about Saints and they usually have let me down by Christmas. After we won the Cup most of us felt that promotion was a shoo in. Saints 1 Carlisle 2 started the season, and it got worse. Looking back over the last three seasons I still find myself in dreamland. The recent run has blown me away, and not just the results. The win over Chelsea I could watch again and again for the quality of our defensive display allied to those two great goals. I have to keep reminding myself I am watching the Saints. Great bump!
I think anyone who has changed their name will appear in their new name even when you look at their posts from before the change. So these are all people who stopped posting I guess.
