New Top/Header Banner for Forum?

I remember a while back there was some talk about updating the banner at the top of our forum, a couple of people were saying that we should have something a bit more modern up there.

Well I had a bit of spare time yesterday afternoon and put together a couple of ideas..

One showing our badge history:

Just thought I'd throw them out there as possibilities, doesn't matter if nobody likes them, I won't be (too) offended

The whole site allows moving pics not sure if the banner allows it or not . If it does you can have both

 

Can't be using them Barnsley when we got beat and look at the empty seats not the LUFC I'm proud of mate

 

It might do, don't know if that'd get annoying over the whole site though. First couple of responses are favouring the badge one, which is my personal favourite too, just thought I'd make up the ER one to have a bit of a choice!

 

Easy enough to change the ER photo behind them mate, the scoreboard on the full version of that photo shows us 1-0

I'll see if theres another I can work with

iv been working on a banner for us i dont want to sound perdantic but are you using a template to get your badges lined up correctly or they could be hiden by the large grey box of the actual forum board

they are very tiny margins to work with
or shall i just shut up

 

They are very tiny margins, and some of it is gonna be covered unfortunately. I was just working with some measurements I made from a screenshot, but I might actually make up a template so I have an idea what it will look like. That was the reason the row of badges are higher than the horizontal center line, so that more of them should show through that gap. It is a bit of a pain like!

 

Iv just asked the big boss to see if the banner can be a gif or not would be great to have a gif banner

 

Durham resize the badges first so youll see the whole badge in the gap

 

Just mocked up a template for them it so I'll have a mess and repost the badges one since people seem to be favouring that anyway

I like them both, but probably favour the first one. I'm not sure how to update the background but i'm sure it wont be too complicated. I may of course just deligate this task to simon or El though

 

Alright here's a couple of modified mockups that show how it'll look as the banner. Two versions again, 1 has badges that fit in the gap between the grey forum areas, 1 has badges that are slightly bigger but can still be seen through the forum area. I've also changed the ER picture so hopefully this one won't bring YBH painful memories back!

That's a cracking photo. It looks a bit distorted when scaled up to the right size for one of these banners though. This is probably the best position I could get to get the guy in, and some of the pitch, unfortunately quite a bit of it still ends up covered because of how little space you actually get to work with these backgrounds:
