    Lets talk football.

Sturridge was awesome yesterday. He is quick, strong, good on the ball and a good finisher. So far in his career with us, and during his time at Chelsea he played in different spots, both wide and as a main striker.

But which do you think is better for Sturridge in our team and system in the long run?

    Left, right or Center.

If wide he would be coming inside narrow and getting in the box, not being a winger.

Centre - he's the only 'natural' striker IMO who stays in the box and gets into the right position.

However, his speed and trickery means he can be quite damaging on the wing as well.

I would be put Sturridge in the middle which then forces Suarez out wide which is his best position IMO. Gives the attack far more balance.

If Suarez is central he will move around and open space in the opposition defense, which Coutinho and Sturridge can into from wide.

I like seeing Suarez behind Sturridge.

When he plays in a front 3 he seems to understand Suarez and know when to switch from right to centre. So starting right but switching to centre when needed.

Let him do his own thing. He can be dangerous wherever he picks up the ball because he has pace and isn't afraid to take a player on. Limiting him solely to one position would negate other parts of his game. He can finish, he can dribble, he can pass.

True but then we need players who will fill that vacant space which isn't happening. However, I feel the players are still trying to get used to the system and the 'interchanging'.

just get in the box... thats the vital thing. be in the build up or pull into channels but most of all when the ball moves wide get in the box!

  9. Sturridge was immense when he came on but I can't help but think he had a point to prove with it being against Chelsea. He definitely made an imnpact though and should have been involved in two goals in the first three minutes of the second half!

Sturridge plays much better in the centre.

Also when further up field. I've noticed of late he drops way deep.

He really should be starting with sharkez on the right downing on bench.

You must be feeling A LOT more confident now Suarez will be banned, I'd be surprised if we got anything out of our game against you.

Quite likely we can have Sturridge and Sharkez on the field this weekend.

Yeah... he will get banned but FA may not make a ruling by the weekend. They can act slowly.

Honestly though... couple of great moves from Luis at the weekend but he has mostly looked jaded recently.

I think Sturridge is more to fear (from footballing perspective) at the moment.

Until Luis gets banned I would assume he will start.

    Hi Enricky <ok>

No, not at all mate. Very worried about this one. Our defence is shocking at the moment, we don't create enough chances and only have one striker worthy of calling such. I think the nerves of being so close to relegation will impact the players and fans alike. So unless we get off to an absolute flyer, I think it will be very nervy. The longer it goes on goal-les or even very close, the more tension there will be and the more likely we are to do something stupid (we have literally 'given' away goals recently due to not having a cool head on the pitch). A poor start and we will most likely capitulate.

Even without Suarez (is he definitely banned?) I fear Gerrard and Sturridge will have a field day against our lot at the moment. The confidence has gone and the nerves shattered. I'd love to be proven wrong, but just can't see anything other than a Liverpool win. We have a match day thread with a poll - seems a fairly split opinion. Feel free to join the debate. <ok>

    Hi Obi lad <ok>

It's obvious to everyone that Suarez will be banned, it's just a matter of when and how long for. Suarez may be able to play this weekend, it depends on the FA and how fast they move with this case, if they take their time and Suarez is able to play then I fully expect him to play. He'll be booed left, right and center but that's what he loves, it spurs him on so if he is able to play, please do boo him :D <ok>

We too have given away goals, especially against City in both games, most of our mistakes are self inflicted. We create so much chances, just like last season but we are scoring more, our defence on the other hand is A LOT worse, we are **** at set pieces (of which you may have witnessed against Chelsea yesterday) so that is definitely something you should target as it's definitely one of our weak spots.

Suarez isn't the only one to fear though, Sturridge and Gerrard can both create and score goals, and Coutinho has been brilliant since he joined us (let's hope I haven't jinxed him!) but we can't forget about your threat - Cabaye, HBA (future Liverpool player ;) just kidding!) Cisse and Sissoko (sp?), one thing that may work in our favour is that Sissoko looks shattered.

Will definitely pop over later fella to check out your match thread <ok>

Ps - You like to get your match threads up nice and early don't you <laugh>

Have already posted on your 'set pieces' thread. It's the one that first caught my attention. I think you'll like what you see. :(

Yeah, ACS always gets the match threads up in plenty of time - sometimes two or three on the go at once. <laugh>

Gives you something to talk about I suppose, you will probably need one if you don't have a Suarez <ok><laugh>

  20. Yep, it'll probably get dragged on for at least six weeks so it effects next season. No point in punishing Liverpool right now is there <whistle>
