The reality is for the better players of football that is the realistic prices you have to pay ( though I think you could get him for 24mn odd) now. The elites is that much more (Cavani, Falcao, Gotze etc). Especially as it is not only City and Chelsea but PSG, Monaco, that russian club, real, man utd, Barca, Bayern. They will all pay big money so if we want that type of player we have to spend as well.
The £70m that is supposed to be available will be for the transfer fee and to pay their wages (as usual when a figure is quoted for us) so if they got £200k a week that would only leave about £30m for the transfer
Although I am the first to plea poverty for Arsenal, I'm not sure that is the case. I think the wage budget will be set, and the transfer budget, and you can't rob one to pay the other. That is my understanding of capital and operating costs anyway, although I've been told I know nothing.
Ive read it in a couple of places over the last few days. Not necessarily true but seems to be the latest bit of info to come out of the club. I think it was said to be a quote form the chief scout, but cant remember his name (its not Giles Grimandi)
Steve Rowley? @Toledo in Fm it is always a mix and it has been said by wenger before that the transfer fund that used to get topped up by 30mn every year was for both. However in this case all i have read and heard it is just for transfers that being said even if wages are included it should only be for the year not entire total so say 25mn and 100k a week would make 30mn as opposed to say 25mn transfer and another 20-25 mn for wages (4-5 year contract).
oooooo bidding war He will leave in the summer for £25-£30m without doubt (we bought him for £15m ffs). He only shows up in big games anyway. Hes a very good DM, it's a shame David Moyes has played him as a second striker really.
Can't see him joining Arsenal. I think Fellaini will be aiming for better if he chooses to leave Everton and there is no way we will see Wenger splash £25m+
If Fellaini is too good for Arsenal then heaven help the calibre of players Liverpool might hope to attract. Taribo West? Rigobert Song? Christopher Wreh?
I think you need to learn to read. I didn't say I thought he was too good for Arsenal, I said I think Felliani will aim for better. In other words, I think he has a high opinion of his self and ambitions that possibly outweigh his talent.
He would walk into the mf of Chelsea, Man utd and city so maybe he doesnt. Not to mention us or Liverpool.
I think he would get into most Premier League sides too, just didn't want you Arsenal fans to think I was having a pop at your club, especially considering the position Liverpool are in at the moment
Its all about the money. He will join a club that can offer him the biggest paycheck, CL football and the chance of trophies,
I would take him at Arsenal, he is a very useful player. But I don't think he is worth anything near what Arsenal could get for the sort of money that is being banded about for him . . for £28-£30m we could do much better imo
Would definitely take Fellaini. If he's a target he should be priority but don't see it tbh. Like has already been mentioned chelsea seem very interested and if true like most players he will choose them over us unless Chelsea don't make cl. Lots of people going on about jovetic and even more unrealistically gotze but we have similar players to those two. Don't get me wrong would love them but would not prioritise them. Priority should be a quality defensive midfielder. Yes I know Fellaini is deployed as an attacking midfielder for Everton but at international level he has done well at dm and its good to have someone as versatile as him.
We have one striker at the club and he's bosh, if theres going to be any big money signing thats where it has to be
