North Korea isn't a communist state, it's ultra-nationalist. Kim Jong-Il has publicly declared his admiration for Hitler and modelled much of his rule on his.

Yeah it started as Communist but like most Communist states the whole equal rights for all thing gets thrown out the window in favour of a leadership cult and a fear of freedom of speech. It's funny how completely different being Centre-left is to being Extreme-left. Commies seem to have more in common with Fascism than Socialism, despite claiming to be Socialist.

We've never seen a true extreme-left government in action.

Both extremes are generally authoritarian, some people prefer the 'political compass' approach to the single 'left/right' axis: http://www.politicalcompass.org/

Cuba is as close as I can think of. Not perfect but it's certainly nothing like North Korea!

Chile under Salvador Allende was the first left-wing government to be elected. They were in the process of bringing Chile into the 20th century when the CIA helped Pinochet (later welcomed to Britain by Thatcher) to stage a coup d'état in which thousands of ordinary people were executed.

I think we've seen enough failed attempts to warrant putting the whole idea to rest for ever.

Not so much failed as corrupted. I guess Lenin made an honest attempt, but he didn't live long enough to see it out.

He lived long enough to establish the Cheka (forerunners of the NKVD), and to instigate the "Red Terror", an effective act of genocide against those social classes who were seen as enemies of Bolshevism. He was a ****ing butcher, as all extremists are when there are no restraints on their power.

So do you agree with the Pinochet coup in Chile then?

Most of the time it's just about Game of Thrones and PompeyLapras's love life.

I assure you that if it does perhaps work out with this girl maybe, I won't really post on this forum about our relationship and what's happening between us (unless we recreate waterloo sunset :D) unless people are specifically interested (I doubt they will be)

And personally I found the video amusing, plus you'd get the opportunity to utilise your Fallout 3 experience, Joe!

Cuba never stood a chance because of US meddling.

    There's even a McDonald's in Hanoi.

It's a pretty decent form of Socialism in India.

Is this really a paddy power advert? Surely someone has just made a silly, although amusing, video and put the paddy power logo at the end
