So another trophyless season has passed and both Stoke and Brimingham have got too cup finals playing the long ball system whilst we went out in the 3rd round of both cups. Weve played good football this season, we like too get the ball down and make it good too watch which is certainly better value for money, however, we havent had a plan B so when Plan A hasnt worked and we havent been able too break teams down or create enough chances in the game too win certain games such as when we played Newcastle, Fulham and Wolves at home. So I have 2 questions, 1) have you enjoyed watching us play this season? 2) Would you swap our style of football for a Stoke and get too a cup final with that style?
I wouldn't like to go down the Stoke route, but at times we seem to pass the ball about in the middle with no objective. I would like us to try to copy the traits of teams such as Man U who pass the ball with purpose.
1. No yes or no answer, in bits we have played some wonderful suff, to often its pass about but going nowhere and for a good deal of the season dross. 2. Stokes style gets some stick but I woder how loud the complaints would be if we won more games.
You have to be able to mix it as required and we have not been able to do that for several reasons. Some that spring to mind immediately are lack of width on the left as OCA said - could be fixed with a left footed LB and LMF like Zog. Our left is terribly weak when attacking. Height, mainly up front. It's mostly a waste of time hoofing balls up to Gyan on his own. But no, I would not be pleased to see the style revert to dumb hoofball or Stoke's style. Much rather we persist with the good footy and improve year on year. Probably needs one or two better / quicker footballing brains when attacking from MF
