With results going the way they did on Tuesday town are sitting in a slightly more comfortable position. Only a massive goal fest by our opposition and by Scunthorpe suddenly finding their scoring boots have been sprinkled with fairy dust will stop Town remaining in league one. Town need one point to mathematically secure this position however.

Colchester's manager Joe Dunne said after the 2-0 loss to MK Donks "I thought we were great, I'm really pleased with our performance. I'm delighted with our overall effort, our commitment. We didn't deserve to lose 2-0. The difference between the two teams was a bit of quality.
Graham Turner went to watch the Col U match and commented "I thought Colchester did quite well," he added. "I went down to watch them play MK Dons and at times they were a bit unfortunate. "They hit the woodwork, they had one or two chances, although MK Dons finally ran out 2-0 winners."

Colchester's top scorers are Ibehre, Sears and Massey. After being in the Championship they are currently fighting to remain in League 1 and Town will have a fight on their hands on Saturday for all or a share of the points. Just had a look at the Col U squad and realised they have 30 players on their books, including 8 strikers - slightly different to what town have to choose from.

Interesting Col U facts - Wycombe Wanderers are fierce rivals to Colchester United, dating back to both clubs' latter years in the Conference. Lua Lua used to play for Colchester before signing for Newcastle Utd

Shrewsbury's injury list seems to be constant only in that there are an ever changing set of is he isn't injured for Mark Wright, today he might be good by Monday. Marvin Morgan had a tight thigh and is hoping to be fit. Cameron Gayle is declared fit and might replace Hurst at RB, if he does then we might tell who GT might look at signing soon. Asanti is looking likely to start the game unless Bradshaw or Doble have suddenly earned some favours at the club.

Stick any news you know underneath with your predictions, I will update as I find out stuff.

I go for a 1-1 draw with Asante opening his account for Town in front of 4900 less than delirious fans.

We've already sold over 5000 tickets for tomorrow.... If you're coming down to Essex you might notice a striking similarity between our Community Stadium and your very own New Meadow.<cheers>

As for the game, we're not so hot at home at the moment and you lot don't win many away so it could well be a draw. <ok>

Just back after a remarkably quick getaway from the stadium car park. A competent performance with Weale not having to make a save of note. Pin ball was the name of the game a couple of times in our area, though. Midfield was OK with Taylor playing left and Wildig right (Richards omitted). McAllister looked the likeliest to score with one shot being brilliantly saved by Walker and another blocked almost on the line. Bradshaw and Asante were fairly toothless with the former getting caught offside far too often. Is this a disease caught off Rodgers?

MOM McAllister but Goldson ran him close.

nice to see graham play an unchanged team for 90 mins. reports elsewhere indicate bradders and asante played well together. i gather from the toothless comment, the pairing up front were not up to par. why were they not subbed then. more experiments next week?

He was not as good as I have seen him in the past-no real diference to his current form on the right. I was disappointed to see Wildig on the right as he was oustanding in the centre for the reserves but he did OK.

It was fair enough to give Bradshaw and Asante the full 90 minutes as there was no real replacement on the bench apart from possibly Parry. I think they mustered 2 shoots between them one powder puff and the other would have been fitting to another code

We like collecting strikers who don't strike on target. Cheers for the info on the match KDS hope it was a worthy journey save no goals.

Well done to Town on survival in League 1. Let us hope that next season is more entertaining to watch and bears more fruit for Shrewsbury.

And GT, pull your finger out and sign some really good players ASAP!!

I listened to the first bit on the radio and sounded like Goldson was impregnable, which was good to hear.
