Say in yesterdays match programme that we must keep the squad together?

IMHO exactly the opposite is needed, we need the biggest clear out in our clubs history. The current squad has zero team spirit and is unlikely to have any next year without major surgery.

And thats without considering whats needed financially.

Why keep the squad together when its proved it has no backbone, fighting spirit or pride in itself.

What do we know? I suspect their thinking is that man for man, this squad is better as individuals than most squads in the NPC. That is debatable. Even if it were true, could Harry actually tweak the team spirit? Not on the evidence of what we've seen so far?

The humiliation of relegation may actually instill some fight into them for next year perhaps??

Because the ones we want to stay will already have their agents out finding their next club and the ones we would like to leave aren't going anywhere (other than to the bank to smile at their bank statements).
A time for our board to sit down, with the manager, and define their strategy - this requires deep thinking and a measure of resignation (that we are where we are) and plan the team for both next season and the next 3 years.
Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows this team isn't staying together. The best thing this season was Remy. We needed a striker, we fought and got one who can play, head and strike a ball... learn from this and do it again. Simples? If only!!

This. Nail on head when you say 'deep thinking' rather than wishful wannabe fantasy. Don't want a repeat of Harold saying he was asked which player he wanted and Tony broke the bank to get him in. We're in the Championship. Ticket prices will be slashed and therefore income will be down. Wage bill has to be brought in line even if we sell at massive losses.

A new season would be entirely different. If they got off to a good start the winning mentality kicks in. Those that remain will be up for it I'm sure. They will have something to prove and want to bounce back.

I've commented on this before. Psychology was crucial in this season as it was in the promotion season.

    You reckon Yorkie? I don't.

Totally agree mate, but is it a knee jerk reaction? We've seen the effect of buying new teams and waiting for them to gel; only Warnock in his first pre-season managed to pull this off. You can't buy team spirit, it has to grow and wholesale changes kill it. I wish I knew the answer.

Squad foundation is super sound would keep as many if them as possible but get fresh thinking in

These players can play individually just need to build a team

    Get rid of Harold IMO

And it was poor psychology from Colin (repeatedly saying the Championship-winning squad wasn't good enough for the Prem) that began our demise. I am equally concerned that 'Arry is already saying that we aren't capable of coming straight back up. I am as down as anyone, but we need to build confidence, from a shattered season and team, not define failure - before we've even started!! It's all about creating, nurturing and instilling belief. Just as Newcastle did when they kept most of their team together and bounced back up.

I dont think its overly harsh seahoop. We have a few individuals who we know have the right attitude, mainly from the promotion team, but the rest have shown a total lack of bottle in most games. You mention the Fulham and Wigan performances which did have some periods of credit that we could give our team, but successful teams must perform to the maximum for 95 minutes not. 45 or 90.

Time after time this season our team turns up for less than the required 95 minutes and though it pains me to say it, we deserve to be relegated.

We need to find some steel and resolve from somewhere. And to offload the players who show zero pride or passion when they pull on the hoops.

Every person can benefit from a fresh start. You, me, everybody need that from time to time. Give the lads a chance to redeem themselves. The Championship start in August will represent a clean slate and a fresh start for everyone. Never underestimate what that could do to the players confidence and morale.

Its scary stuff, we need to destroy this bunch of useless, spineless ****ers.

More than 50% of them should go.

    SPOT ON!!

This squad will not get us back up. I am certain of it. We need major changes to have a chance. As I said on another thread - if that means we are in the NPC for two seasons then so be it.

The players may be good individually but they dont care about the club, and that is simply not forgivable. Why should we let them redeem themselves? They have had 34 games to redeem themselves.

As for Beard, I expressed my views in an earlier thread. If the players dont have relegation clauses that is a major major error.

To be fair, you may have struggled to recruit some of your players if you had insisted on relegation release clauses - and so decided to take a gamble.

I'd not sign anyone who isn't confident in their own ability.
