We have to get the right players in, don't give in to their demands, have a wage cap with performance contracts for wins and promotion. They don't get much money if we don't play well. I'm not convinced harry is the right man to do it though, I think he will offer his resignation at Tuesdays meeting and it will be accepted and we will look for a better coach as long as its not bucking cotterill.
What a dilemma!!! We can't afford to keep the overpaid players; We can't change the team wholesale AGAIN; We can't keep changing our helmsman (manager); We can't depend on Hill, Derry & co. for the future; We will lose at least 5-6 players anyway; We need new blood with passion, skill, technique, brains and vision. No problems then!!!! Grim reading!!
I don't think that we are going to have much choice. Townsend and Fabio will return to their clubs, Remy has a release clause, Taarabt, Mbia and Grenero need to leave for the sake of their careers, possibly Samba too and Cesar won't hang around. If we received sensible offers for Green, Onouha, Mackie, Hoilett would you turn them down? Will the last one out please turn off the lights.
I can say now that Clint Hill is of course not any way good enough to play at this standard ... When we had our momentum in our promotion year then he was the weak link then and never got into the middle because it was clear that Kasper and Matt were far better ... That says a lot as both have been promoted again over the last two seasons and the firthcoming one . As for Samba I have never rated him and never will ... If he had the minerals to play in a top four ... Guess what he already would be ... He is too slow The only players I would keep at the back would be Bosingwa and Onunha Bosingwa is cultured and composed Onunha if he has a run could be a great player ... Confidence I said keep them all but yesterday Hill was at fault for the goals ... He has gone IMO should be playing for Tranmere I would love to see a young foreign manager at QPR and see what he could do with this squad now Seriously QPR as a club should be ashamed as the opportunity presented itself and they burnt it. Sick to death and get rid of Harold ASAP IMO ...
Agree. I have enjoyed Clint's big heart, fight and tenacity. But he is, at best, now a squad player for the next year of his contract. We need to use our money widely and have two classy CB's (one of who needs to be strong captain material - I had hoped Samba would do this but...). Vital we get a good CB pairing established before pre-season now - they will be the bedrock of our defence for the future.
Samba is not the player I thought he was, he came to us unfit.....but has not got fitter. If he stays, but after the last few weeks performances, who will come for him (actually Cardiff or Brighton, if promoted). A fit Samba would dominate the championship, if he had the heart. We build the team around Green, Onuoha, (Samba), MBia, Jenas possibly Diakite. We keep Park until we see how well he can play in a composed and confident team (will that happen to us next year...I hope so but am scared it won't) We need to work with Hoillet and Suk Yung to see how far they will go. Yes I know my team contains no goal scorers but for the past two years we haven't had one (Remy excepted, but he doesn't feel like our player any more, just someone we are looking after for Arsenal or Spurs)
I reckon watching me and Roller chat from a distance could have been more entertaining than what was on the pitch........we didn't have a plan against the most predictable team in the league. Acid test failed, again, a low next to the Southampton and Liverpool games. Very telling that the ever-present ST holders who sit near me were not ever-present - guys in front didn't turn up, the guys next to us, who also go to most away games, left early for the first time this year. And I don't blame them. Tel in as director of football to guide a hot young foreign coach please.
Stan, I bumped into one of those lads down at the Wetherspoons after the match (and after I'd had a quick drink with Nines in the White Horse). After I ribbed him about his leaving early (as you'd expect me to) we tried to find a positive from this season and failed miserably. Now I now I'm a moody git, but this bloke is always laughing and joking, always got a smile on his face, that sort whose cup is overflowing, forget half full. God helps us. And talking of which, Tel is as director of football will always get my vote.
It's going to need a shrewd overhaul if thats the route we go down. Can see Harry bringing in some old and trust faces but that wont necessarily bode well for the future. Would the likes of Crouch drop down to the NPC to work with Harry again?
Beth - i am not sure that a top goal scorer is a necessity anymore. We got promoted with Adel top of the charts (on 16 if memory serves me correctly), and this year Cardiff have won it with Hiedar top scorer on 8! Out of the top teams, only Glen Murray has banged them in, and then their next top scorer is on 4! Would you want to be so reliant on one player?
Dave, if you're being serious, what the **** has happened to you? It's not long ago that you were ripping into anyone who criticised the players or manager. I know you know your football, but you must keep to your convictions. You can't keep changing your views, as people will start to question whether you really mean anything you say.
Well we had Bothroyd at Cardiff and he can certainly show quality at times, even more so at championship level. He needs to play regular and you have to accept some days he just wont be on the ball thats when he needs to come off. I would say keeping Harry is vital, he will do his best to get rid of any who never gave all for the cause and try to get a few who will. Having ground out promotion with most of the teams you will face I can`t see how you cannot get straight back up honestly, sitting on top of the championship would soon wipe away the bad memories of this season. best wishes, jck
Roller, those blokes Andy and Nathan, and an older bloke who sits in front of them but wasn't there yesterday, have just about made this season semi bearable. Just as you say, they have never let it get them down, though they do dish it out to players a lot, but always with a big grin, and they always sing along with my boy. We've got to the stage of relishing Mackie's first touch. Got very lucky sitting near them, and not too close too close to the scary bloke who is angry, permanently pissed/stoned and enjoys smashing the back wall of the Loft. One thing we are not short of is characters in the stands.
