After which game do you think our destiny will have been decided regarding automatic promotion ? I'm going for Leicester. I watched the Watford game today, they looked good once they got their noses in front in the 2nd half against poor opposition, I think it will be a different story away at Leicester. Leicester just coming back into form at the right time.
AHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Im going for Barnsley, we need to stop relying on teams, we need to do this for ourselves
I agree with you. We saw nothing today that we haven't already been aware of this season. Blackburn played a very similar game against us - they gave us a fairly good game until Gedo scored - then Elmo sealed it late on. Watford may have won 4-0 - but it was over on the 2-0. Blackburn had to try and push to equalise, and Watford punished them. When Watford played us - they cut off our attack once they'd gone 1-0. We didn't capitulate because our defence is better than Blackburn's. I think Leicester have the players and the performance in them to win it or get a draw next week - trouble is, they will need to make fewer mistakes than against Palace. If Watford score first - Leicester may struggle to get back in it. If Leicester score first - I can't see Watford getting anything from the game. I personally think - this close to the end of the season - at the KP stadium... It'll be Leicester's game.
I hope this doesn't get lost in translation (on a forum instead of spoken out loud), but I was chatting to a mate on the way home from the match today. He said that if he had the opportunity to try and sabotage Hull's promotion bid, he would do it by spending the whole week talking about how fantastic Cardiff are, and by letting the players talk about and watch the match on Friday night. If you do what you have done for most of the season, your next game will be the only game that matters.
I think the nerves are coming from poor performances against relegation candidates this week - and the next relegation candidates up are the ones who put us out of the FA Cup...
I think we'll win at Barnsley, but my guess is that will be after the event as I can see Leicester stealing the game on Friday, which is all we need.
I hope Leicester do win, it would be lovely at 9.40pm on Friday to be able to relax. I can't believe I pay hundreds of pounds to put myself through this. I remember a Professor from John Moores Uni in Liverpool saying on Radio Humberside " football fans eat pain for breakfast ".
I don't think we'd beat a Cardiff who were trying - but let's face it - now they have the title - Cardiff aren't even playing for pride any more. They probably won't be even trying to beat a record - they beat their club record total with a draw next week. I'm not saying they'll give it to us - but a team worthy of second verses a team who's just having a good time - we should be able to get something.
So.. our play off second leg at home 12th or the 13th may? Need to make the atmosphere the best it's ever been!
I agree completely. Look - we all know what could happen - and let's face it - if we take 1/2 points from four games (post-ipswich) we don't deserve promotion. But we haven't had a run like that all season. We all have a built in negativity about being a Hull City fan - and we have had two disappointing results. But by next Saturday, we'll probably have Koren back, Evans back, and the rest of the team will have had eight days' rest. Two weeks ago we were a point ahead of Watford. Today we're four. Watford have won twice in the last eight. We've won four of the last eight. Watford have won one of the last four - we've won two. Yet some people are somehow conviced Watford can make up four points from six on us. Can it happen? Of course it can - Watford are a bloody good side. Will it happen? - let's have a bit of faith in our bloody good side. Let's get some perspective. Even after this weekend, we're still in a great position. I would be a hell of a lot more nervous tonight if we had to play Leicester then Leeds, rather than Barnsley and Cardiff.
You might need to be careful with the tongue in cheek, Erendor... Have a look round the forum - people have posted worse than that in total seriousness!
i agree, but this team that has got us to 2nd so far will 100% complete the job, it won't be easy and it might even take the cardiff game but we will go up in automatic! keep the faith.. an 8 day rest will do us the world of good
Leicester to sneak a 1-0 win in the 88th minute. Man to score? None other than Morgan (The best defender in the league). Nige fist pumps, we celebrate and he finally gets us up after leaving.
