Definitely. Maybe a joint testimonial for Ash and Dawson if they retire in the same year. We could have Elliott, Turner, Delaney, Whittle, Burgess, Ricketts, Windass etc.
Good idea. Its still worth organising. Ashbee deserves a testimonial. I would turn out( in the stands that is not on the pitch)
I did this idea at some point last season (I was struggling for keepers as they were both here) but I'm sure for a friendly you could get a couple of decent sides out of players who got promoted with us and are still playing: Myhill/Duke Dawson/ Brown/Delaney Turner/ Ricketts/ Garcia/Price Marney/Ashbee Keates/Green Hughes/Elliott (I know but he's the only left winger who got promoted with us) Barmby/Allsopp ***an/Burgess Just missing two full backs and a centre back, and you can chop and change amongst yourselves. I've left Windass out as his presence would take away from Ash/Daws on their day, and also Campbell and Cort because they've peed fans off since they left.
That looks pretty good Ricardo, you'd have to guess some of the squad at the time would play as well. So they could fill the empty spots.
It would obviously have to be an end of season game like the one tonight as well, there's no way their clubs would release the other players for a preseason game if we could even get enough of them released anyway. I think my initial suggestion was just for Ash's testimonial to have the current squad against an Ashbee promotion XI in recognition of him being the first to captain a side in all 4 divisions, and that would be a piece of piss to arrange a decent side from.
