Me too, nice steep banking, they need the stands closer to the goal though. My favourite is Boavista. please log in to view this image The stands are so steep they need safety rails to stop people falling down. please log in to view this image Thats 28k, imagine 12k extra and wed have my perfect stadium.
I agree mate, Boavista is my favourite too. I hope Beard and Co can something unique, but fits our criteria though.
I think it would look good painted blue and white and have some sponsorship on it. The concrete makes it look unfinished.
Can't see the attraction with the Boavista stadium ive see it before and think it is built this way so the appartment blokes around fit in around it or the other way around. Anyway looks far to claustraphobic for me.
It may hold iternational games, or european games. Why not? Even if its england u21s for instance or if by some miracle we qualify for europe one day. Need to plan for these things. Imo big walls right by the pitch like that img you put up dont look that good. Retractable seats would allow us to be flexible.
As col said, thats the point, away players always say how small the Loftus Road pitch is despite it not being small at all, the closeness affects their play and I hope that continues with the new ground.
Love the Boavista concept, but suspect we might need deeper stands for a retractable roof, just in engineering terms.
Thats good to hear. In all seriousness though, I would like to see if they can somehow accomodate the stadium so that where people currently sit now is sort of transferred into the new stadium and sections are more or less sort of kept together instead of just a complete free for all for places/seats when they come available. I like the people who sit around me and my mates a lot (well most of them) and the general atmos of the area I'm in. Don't know how this could be done, but could also get rid of those first couple of seasons when clubs move into new stadia and the fans kind of have a bewildered look and lack of atmosphere until they get used to their new surroundings
Thats a big problem at SMS, you have the home singing section next to the away fans with the other 3 sides silent most of the time, they definitely need to have a designated home end, have the away section in the opposite corner and the family section in the last corner.
I like the idea of being close to the pitch as we have now I just think this can be achieved in a more attractive ground, as you say flyer our plan would be to add a further 12,000 seats and with the Boavista style that means going up higher to the gods. If we want to build a multi purpose stadia this would have to accomodate a totally different crowd with many different functions that are appealing to the greater mass.
Concourse facilities and other things built in so that the ground can be used 7 days a week. The main/corporate stand is always going to be the same place. If you keep away fans in the same part of the ground relative to it then everyone else will naturally pick to sit roughly where they do now, with season ticket holders they're sat there rather than somewhere else for a reason so they mostly won't want to move. When we moved we did it mid-season but it wasn't all that difficult. When we went in to renew our season tickets for that season they had a plan of the new ground up (showing main stand and where the away fans would be) and we just told them where we wanted to sit. I don't know anybody who had a problem getting sat where they wanted or who chose to sit somewhere that didn't correspond with where they sat/stood at our old ground.
