Player of the year - Bale, Carrick, Hazard, Suarez, RVP, and Mata. Young player of the year - Bale, Hazard, Wilshere, Wellbeck, Benteke and Lukaku.
how Welbeck has made it onto the young player list with a less prolific record than that of Manucho is bizarre!!!!
Prepare to laugh, then, as Bale is the hot favourite. I think Weimann is unlucky not to be in the young player list, given Wilshere's absences, Welbeck's moderate returns and Lukaku's inconsistency.
If Bale wins player of the year he has to win young player of the year surely overwise someone has made a mistake there
You'd think so - but the PFA rarely uses common sense! Two years ago Bale won the PFA award but Wilshere won PFA Young Player. It's nuts, I agree.
I don't think that 'Young Player of the year' should go to those already firmly established before the season even begins (e.g. Bale). It should be for breakthrough seasons etc... in which case, someone like Lukaku or Benteke should get it.
Why is it a joke if Suarez doesn't win it? Yeah he's had a great season, but so have the others, that's why they're on that list. Carrick is a holding midfielder so he's never going to score 20 goals or whatever but the consensus seems to be that he's had a bloody good season and as someone who only sees him on MOTD, I don't think I can argue with that. Wilshere is the one that surprises me. He's a great player but wasn't he injured until about Febuary and then got injured again for another month? He must have only played about 5 games.
Basically the age limit is far, far too high. Bale will be 24 in the summer, for God's sake! I think the young player award should only be open to players who are under 21 at the start of the season - meaning only Wilshere and Lukaku from this list would be eligible.
Where is Leighton Baines? Also, Michu and Cazorla should be up there - Carrick and Welbeck can **** right off. Wilshere shouldn't be there either.
Baines and Michu are both excellent shouts. I think Cazorla has been a little too inconsistent. In addition to Weimann, I'd say Caulker is unlucky to miss out on a Young Player nod, too.
I kind of hope Suarez wins it just so we don't get Liverpool's usual "the world's against us" bollocks.
Michu, Lambert and Benteke - All really high up in the scoring charts, with arguably much harder jobs as they're at unfashionable clubs. It's bollocks.
