Great signing and am delighted to have him for another couple of years as he has become an important part of the defence and has made some great saves to help us fight our way up into mid table. Also it keeps funds available for the summer to buy players that will add value to the existing squad and not purely a replacement.
Not bad for a free transfer! Out of interest, where would people put him compared to other teams' keepers this season? Arsenal - Szczesny Aston Villa - Guzan Chelsea - Cech Everton - Howard Fulham - Schwarzer Liverpool - Reina Man City - Hart Man Utd - De Gea Newcastle - Krul Norwich - Bunn QPR - Cesar Reading - Federici SAINTS - Boruc Stoke - Begovic Sunderland - Mignolet Swansea - Vorm Tottenham - Lloris West Brom - Foster West Ham - Jääskeläinen Wigan - Al-Habsi
I honestly think he's better than most of them. It's been a pretty poor season for keepers, what with De Gea, Cech and Hart all being pretty mediocre. I actually think the teams near the bottom have had the best performances from their keepers - Boruc, Mignolet, Guzan and Cesar have all been excellent.
Guzan has been outstanding this season. Without comparing them directly, Guzan has done far more for his team, & that's taking nothing away from AB.
I would say slightly-better-than average in the Premier League right now. Or not quite as good as Niemi. But I think he can still take his game up a notch.
Guzan's had plenty of chances to show his quality with all the shots Villa have had against them! Ask Chelsea...
They all say ten past ten just like the one in the screen adverts at St Mary's. Incidentally did anyone else notice that the clock behind the director's box had disappeared on Saturday? I always look up to the screen to check the game time when there is a break in play but it always has a bloody advert so I got used to looking at the clock. I was scuppered on Saturday and had to keep digging in my pocket for my watch.
It's great advertising; the first thing anyone looks for now is the watch. Mind you, no one noticing the watch could possibly afford said watch, but still.
You think Hart has had a better season than Boruc? Hart has been mediocre at best this season. Great news about Artur.
Absolutely delighted with this, now we have 2 very capable senior Keepers and a couple of prospects for the long term future, that's the Number 1 jersey sorted now.
