I totally agree. As a League 1 signing Guly was an absolutely ridiculous find. It's not his fault that we got back to back promotions, well in some ways it is, which goes to show how good a signing he was. Can you imagine if you offered his services to Crawley Town, they'd snap your hand off.
I agree...we have some players to shift who have hardly featured or not featured at all, but cannot see too many purchases. The contract renewals indicate a desire to hold onto the core of the team. Too many new signings may destabilise the team. About 3-4 signings of young, talented and hard-working players would be ideal, especially 2 defenders. QPR are an example of what can happen if you randomly sign expensive players who go on to coast through the season. Southampton are building to a design.
I agree unfortunately. If he was eyeing a move, then he`d have keeping himself fit, albeit not match fit, after the end of the Norwegian season. He`s not a youngster, and he hasn`t made any impact at all - Poch sees him in training every day, and is unimpressed, evidently. Hope he proves me wrong !
I'll start being concerned about Forren if he doesn't play at all this season. He was signed at a time when we were in a real dogfight (still are, but nowhere near as bad) and the defence was starting to look reasonably solid. Think he will get a run out or 2 in the last few games if we are safe.
Oh, I meant players leaving rather than arriving. We've got quite a few loan players coming back to join a large bunch who don't get anywhere near the first team. Loads of movement out.
Sorry about the triple post, it told me it hadn't been posted each time? Might have a gremlin somewhere.
Foren was brought in to strengthen a weak defence, that conceded far too many goals. Problem is, that defence has become stronger without him. Hooiveld and Yoshida have improved massively this 2nd half of the season - it's clear that they've worked v hard on the training ground. Perhaps the arrival of Foren was exactly what our existing centre halves needed to give them a nudge up the backside!
