Hull city have lost 14 games this season in the Championship against some quite poor teams, I cannot understand how people on here think City will do ok in the premiership (If City get there) with most of the players they have now. On the other hand I just wouldn't know who to replace. Is Stockdale, Koren, Aluko, or either of the Egyptians good enough? I'm guessing people will say Chester, Brady and Myler will be ok, I just wonder what Brucie will be thinking.

Stockdale will be backup for a new number one.

    Brady - Yes
    Elmo Yes
    Faye- No
    Hobbs- Probably No
    Macca - Bench Warmer
    Dawson -No (obvs)
    Rosy - Good backup
    Chester Yes

    midfield

    Quinn- Bench Warmer
    Koren - Bench Warmer
    Aluko - Yes
    Myler - Yes
    Fathi - Maybe

    Up Top

    Gedo - Possibly
    Fryatt - No
    Prossy - No
    Simpson - Really??? No.
    bboyd - hungry so maybe

In answer to your question, we will have to buy a new team, it is that team that will determine if we stay up not who we have now.

Stockdale - Good keeper, possibly 2nd choice but I would not be worried with him as number 1

Brady - One of our best players this season, I think he will be too good for us soon never mind good enough

Chester - Probably the best defender in the league last season, not as good in 3 at back this season but a brilliant footballer

Hobbs - Very good, exceptional recently, may be substitute to a more experienced CB in prem

Rosie - Played around 80 games for Fulham there, brilliant last season just not right for 3 at back

Dudge - Looked good in what we have seen, may need more experience under an experienced prem LB

Elmo - played over 50 for Sunderland, Brilliant crosser, good pace, one of our best this season

Meyler - Been vital for our success, driving force in midfield, expect him to be one of 2 deep mids next season

Quinn - Very creative, not sure if he will be better or worse with more time on the ball. Not sure he will make starting 11 but more than worthy of the bench

Boyd - Looked very good at start but has faded slightly, lots of ability, see him as back up for the wings and playmaker role

Koren - Reaching the age when he is a bit off the pace but prem will suit his style better, expect him to be sub

Aluko - Without injury would have been our player of season, fantastic talent to turn on the ball and create something from nothing. I would rate him up there with --- --------Zaha/Ince and he has been a huge miss for us. Definately good enough.

Think the only area we need serious strengthening is up front. Don't think Fryatt will be good enough for the top league and not sure about Gedo either despite his flying start as when he hasn't scored he hasn't been impressive. Three forwards, some bulk in midfield and defense would do I think, but expect a few more changes as well.

Every team in this division has lost games against so called 'poor' opposition this year, it doesn't mean anything other than the Championship is a tough league. I think the spine of our team is pretty good for next year. Sign Stockdale unless someone with more experience comes available. Hobbs and Chester are good enough to step up. Meyler alongside a new, experienced centre mid would be good. Aluko and Fryatt will grab a few goals but i'd like a couple more forwards in. Elmo will be competent in the premier league, Brady should be decent too.

We basically need to sign at least 4-5 new first teamers, pushing the likes of Quinn, Fryatt and Boyd to the bench to increase squad depth. Simpson and the like will probably be shipped out.

The thing is i think each individual in our first eleven could play in the Premier League, however not all in the same team. If you had Quinn in United's team of course he could do well in that team. So i think we will probably see 4 or 5 of this sidein our PL side alongside some new players and that is probably the right balance. If we go in with the same team as we do now of course we will struggle. The key is adding some good players to the core of the side and then fitting in the players that we already have.

I don't think anybody expects us to do well with the current players. We expect to sign 7 or 8 players (we've only got 16 signed up for next season so far, so it's either new contracts or new players) and for them to be first teamers. I don't see why a side made up of 6 new players and the 5 best from this season's team with the others as cover should have any more worries than the sides that narrowly survive this season.

Including the loanees: Stockdale, Oxley, McShane, Rosenior, Dawson, Faye, Olofinjana, Cairney, Devitt, McKenna, Elmo, Fahti, Cullen, Gedo, Simpson

    It leaves us with:

    GK: Jakupovic
    LB/LWB: Dudgeon, Brady
    CB: Chester, Hobbs, Bruce
    RB/RWB:

    LW: Stewart
    CM: Meyler, Evans, Quinn
    RW:
AM: Koren, Aluko, Boyd (assuming 2 year deal is tied up and not conditional on promotion)

    ST: Proschwitz, Fryatt, McLean

Then there's the kids like Bradley and Townsend who I'm not sure about.

NB: I'm only counting players once, so don't people start saying things like Brady can play left wing as well.

Promotion is over the entire season against all the clubs in the league, not over a few 'should have' won matches. Cardiff are already there, and they had some surprise results from clubs down towards the bottom.

IF WE GO UP(didn't realise id counted my chickens there, oops).... we don't know how we WOULD fair. Obviously we WOULD sign some players but the prem is a different game then in the championship. players have more time on the ball, its not as physical and certain players might suit it more. What i do know is that teams do better nowadays then they used too and this squad is a lot better then the squad that got promoted last time

A lot of the players are young still and will come on leaps and bounds with a bit of EPL experience.
We have a small squad that will need a fair few additions to survive, so I would say keep the vast majority for strength in depth and bring in however many more SB needs. (if we go up of course).

Am I the only one who thinks this is deluded
I'd say virtually all of our 1st XI bar Alex Bruce (normally) is good enough for the Premiership and yes, THAT INCLUDES BIG ABDOULAYE!
I think we need to add 4/5 players, maybe a goalkeeper to push Stockdale, another CB, a CM because I just don't think Tom Cairney is good enough, a decent winger incase Elmo/Brady get injured and to push them further also and a forward.

For people who don't think Fryatt's good enough for the Prem... how can you tell? Give the lad a chance at least! And as for Quinn or Boyd not being good enough for the Prem; one of the most ridiculous claims you'll ever hear. Both ouse ability and would be good IMO in the Premier League.

Cairney has another year apparently, as does Connor Townsend, Bradley is out of contract this summer though.

    Philip Buckingham ‏@PJBuckingham 12 Apr
@HullCityLive Cairney and Townsend 2014, Bradley 2013. As far as I'm aware at least.

We need at least 2 goal keepers signing - I'd be happy with Stockdale as number one, and bring in an experienced keeper as number two, or someone whose impressed in the lower leagues on the way up like that Moore at Brentford. If we get offered money for Jakupovic I'd let him go and move Cracknell up the order.

Left wing back I'm happy with, two different types of player there - Brady more attacking, Dudge more responsible defensively. Also both comfortable in a 442. I'd also look at getting Conor Townsend a Championship loan.

Right back/wing back needs sorting, obviously Elmo should be number one choice and give Rosie a new deal too. I think Danny East is also out of contract, and he seems to have impressed on both his loans this season so I'd renew him and keep him around during pre season to get a closer look at him.

Centre back, depending on system we need two or three more signing. I'd renew Macca, and look to sign one in their early twenties that can develop with us, and someone more experienced that's been there and done it. I'd look towards Morrison from Reading, and renew Bradley for two years but get him a Championship loan.

Centre midfield I think we need someone of real quality in there that can create from deep and chip in with goals when we need them, like Bullard was meant to do for us, to play alongside Meyler. Evans and Quinn are decent back up, although it wouldn't massively surprise me if we sold Evans this summer to an ambitious Championship side. Would also look to get a tough centre mid, possibly Lee Cattermole given the Bruce connection.

Striker/ attacking midfield I'm putting together since we interchange them quite regularly. I don't think with Aluko, Fryatt, Boyd and Koren we'll be too far away, though we could do with a hairy arsed centre forward that will throw their elbows around and win headers, like Lambert and Holt have done for their clubs. McLean I'd let go without any fuss whatsoever, he's always given everything for the club and it just hasn't worked out. Proschwitz won't be up to the Prem but I wouldn't let him go without a decent fee.

Stewart doesn't fit into this system, but I still think there's a player in there so I'd move him out on loan again, but make it clear it's his last chance here.

Not including loans, I'd offer new contracts to the following; McShane, Cairney, Rosenior and Faye.

I think we learnt last time we made the Prem discounting players before they've even kicked a ball was a huge mistake, nobody thought Ash or Daws would make the step up but they played their part well in some great victories that year. I trust Bruce has an idea who can and can't make the step up, the Prem is a completely different league to the championship in terms of how the football is played and some of our current crop may flourish unexpectedly

I'd be fine with being wrong, but from the OWS

Plenty of other links to the same detail if you google Cairney signs tigers contract, and no evidence of him signing another deal since then.

    Two points:
    1. City already have more points than they got in 2008. And I would say this group of players is more talented than that group.
    2. Did you seriously ask if Aluko is good enough? Really?

The team or squad that gets you promoted is rarely the same one that gets the chance to keep you up. There will no doubt be some comings and goings in the summer should we manage to get ourselves across the finishing line in the next 3 games. Lets just get there and enjoy the celebrations before we worry about next season too much yet.
