Top flight football for the first time in over half a century............is there anyone on here who saw Cardiff play the last time that happened? (I know it reads a bit wummy but it's not intended to be, just genuinely interested if any of you have been there before )
Well according to this board Oldsparkey went to wembley in 1927 to see us lift the cup so he has seen top flight football before
Bog off Eldon........... I'm 55 (56 this year), and can only just rember the mid 60's at Ninian with my dad. The last season of Peter Rodrigues before he went to Leicester and the start of the Murray/Harris centre half pairing stick in the mind. It just preceded the Euro glory years of the late 60's early 70's which will never be forgotten.
I'm with Sparkey on this...altho' I'm a little older, it took some time for the big City lights to get to Neath!!!!
BfB....Hamburg as first game eh? Going by some comments here that would have made you a glory-chasing 'plastic' at that time. (joke!). it's more likely that one's age defines a starting point of support and not anything else. I know it's off thread a little but some might care to remember that everyone has to start somewhere and if it coincides with a good spell then that is how it turns out. This plastic tag gets me down a little, frankly speaking.
Looks like I am not going to find anyone then Really would have thought there would have been a smallish handful of 60 somethings that were watching at the time.
I was still ****ting yellow and having a tit stuck in my mouth the last time we were in the top flight, oh for one of those now...
I hadn't be born, though may have been a twinkle in my dad's eye. He was a lifelong city fan and would have enjoyed last night. One of those days when I miss him most.
Now here's a thread that was pretty much certain to drag me out of message board retirement. Yep, I was there last time around, and while most of my memories are confined to what I wrote on matchday programmes, one game still stands out in my grey, old head. So here begins a short ramble from an old man! The game in question came a couple of days after my 9th birthday when my dad took me to see us take on the mighty Spurs. Ninian Park was absolutely packed to the hilt (though the usual trick of understating the crowd in order to fool the taxman was in play) and Danny Blanchflower and his star studded team came to give us a lesson. However, we won 3-2 and I remember being carried out on the shoulders of my dad and my uncle. If memory serves me correctly, Spurs went on to do the Cup and League double. After the game, I think we were about 6th or 7th ahead of the likes of Man U, Man C, Arsenal and Chelsea. I wonder if we'll be in the same position next March! - I have a doubt or two. On a personal note, yesterday ( the day we were promoted) was the 10th anniversary of the passing of my dad who was a lifelong fan of the Bluebirds. He didn't think we would ever get back to the top flight, but he remained loyal throughout. He'd have loved all of this.

Great to see you again clingo... hope you're well same goes out to you Thai... hopefully we can resume 'rivalries' next year As for the thread, we were relegated from top flight the year before I was born so a brand new experience for me definately
Clingo Welcome back, great to hear from you again. Hope you are well. A number of newbies have been insulted as I accused them of being you under a new name. Some have stayed with us despite this.
