http://www.eyefootball.com/news/13239/Benoit-Assou-Ekotto-to-join-Sunderland.html Tottenham defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto has fallen out of favour at White Hart Lane, and according to reports Sunderland are amongst the teams interested in the French full-back's services. Assou-Ekotto had been an almost ever-present last year at WHL, but this year has fallen down the pecking order. Spurs' manager Andre Villas-Boas has told colleagues that his top priority in the transfer window this summer is to secure a new left back Does this mean we are likely to be keeping Rose?
I'd take Rose over Ekotto everytime. Ekotto is a bell end who isnt (by his own words) really bothered about playing football. Rose is a great Northern lad who has settled here straight away, is lightening quick and tough as ****. He is my number one target in the summer. Got to make a bid for him.
I doubt AVB has identified a LB as top priority. In fact I've seen his priority list first hand, he dropped it when I was behind him in the Wimpy queue in motorway services. My top priorities for the summer: 1. Get a new jacket. 2. Keep Bale 3. Replace Bale 4. Ask Levy for some of the Bale money 5. Stalk Damiao for 4 months 6. Give Adebayor a new contract
I reckon Rose will put a transfer request if he doesn't get his move. He's already stated earlier in the season he has no interest in returning to Spurs
I have friends who are spurs fans who are season ticket holders and they say AVB wanted to see rose develope on loan (which he has) and they want him back.
Sometimes your face just doesn't fit at a certain club. 2/3 players were in front of Rose at Spurs. He's got a taste of first team football and won't be sitting on the bench next year. Can't see a top 5/6 team coming in as all pretty much covered so I would say we were favourites. 7m should be about right.
Imo Danny Rose is the natural successor to Patrice Evra and Man Utd have form for stealing from Spurs. Once Baines and Cole are out the way he'll be England left back. He's head and shoulders above Gibbs already
Villas Boas said he's not for sale - but AFTER that Danny Rose himself said he has been told, by Villas Boas when we played Spurs, that Sunderland and Spurs will have to sit down and agree a price if they can - so Villas Boas is dragging for a bigger sell on fee I reckon
Obviously I can't speak for the club, but I'd be surprised if we let Rose go in the summer. Not only has he impressed during his loan, even when things weren't going particularly well for the team, but he's also done very well for the England U21s. As that defence also contains Steven Caulker and Adam Smith, who's been out on loan at Millwall and has also had a good season, I'm sure that's not been overlooked.
Assou Ekoto has supposedly declared a wish to go back to France. Sunderland is not France, although he may fancy Newcastle.
Nope he said he wouldn't go back to bench warm. If Assou-Ekotto goes (and likely even if he stays) he will be their first choice left back. They may have CL football next season and will at the very least be competing for the top 4 places again, we can't compete with that unfortunately. There's no way Danny will be here next season imo, unfortunately.
They have already bought a left back, Zeki Fryers, and are actively searching for another. Rose isn't wanted there, and will be our permanent number 3, assuming survival. Quote me on this.
