Alan Pardew has demanded Newcastle United prove they are a 'bigger and better club' than Sunderland next season in the wake of their derby humiliation. The St James' Park club were last weekend embarrassed 3-0 at home by Paolo Di Canio's visitors, who were in danger of falling into the Premier League relegation zone. Pardew has already claimed Newcastle were suffering from fatigue and now he has defiantly ordered his squad bounce back by leaving Sunderland trailing in the 2013/14 campaign. "Next year we have to prove that we're a bigger and better club," Pardew, whose side are now just two points above their Tyne-Wear rivals, said in the Newcastle Chronicle. "That's in terms of our Premier League position by finishing well above them. That's what we are going to try to do next year. "But first we've got to make sure we play well in the last five games with good, solid performances." Pardew had pointed the finger at Newcastle's European commitments for their tired performance against Sunderland. But having been knocked out of the Europa League by Benfica, he is relishing the chance to give the likes of Hatem Ben Arfa, Mathieu Debuchy and Cheick Tiote a full week of training. "We certainly can do a week's work with Hatem and Debuchy, who had his first game, and Cheick," said Pardew. "We'll do more work with him. We'll give a rest to some of the other guys." http://m.skysports.com/article/football//8645047
He also failed to mention that only 5 of the outfield players started the midweek European game - what was the excuse of the other 5? Oh yes - not good enough on the day!
For the time being, Sunderland have proved that we are bigger and better! It's going to be a long frustrating summer for the deluded bunch.
I said to my mate before the game he'd use Europe as an excuse 'when', we beat them. I think he's beginning to feel the pressure off the fans, even more so after losing the derby, so he's trying his hardest to make excuses up. On top of that he's a total prick!
The bloke has got no class; and I would imagine that the vast majority of Mags would agree with that..
Keegan had an infectious enthusiasm about him you had to love (very much like PDC who I dare bet even mags will admire); Sir Bobby was one of my heroes from England days; even the architect of our 5-1 humiliation, Hughton, was and is a thoroughly classy bloke. Pardew is a ****ing bell end. End of story.
Pardew is a gambling addicted tosser who only has a job cos he owes fat Mike lots of dosh. Keegan is a ****er too. Toys out the pram **** who ruined SKP's England career, the badger heede bastard. He can **** right off. Sir Bobby on the other hand is a true gent, I loved the man as most football fans did.
Everyone is pretty much spot on with all comments, nobody though has mentioned Pardews womanising which disappointed me. Maybe the players didnt perform because Pardew has been sniffing around a bit too much
He also forgets to mention that Quella had his first game back after injury and very little training and yet was like a rock. Also Bardsley and Rose aren't long back either, Graham was injured in the build up to this match so wasn't 100%. The sour faced twat is a piece of ****. Every Newcastle fan I've spoke to has admitted that they were beaten fair and square by a better team, why can't he just say that on the day his team were beaten by a better side?
I heard that he'd been sniffing around a few gadgies mate, and i'm not making it up either. Could be ****e like but I heard it.

Next season? Don't think they should take it as a given that they're staying up just yet. That's exactly the attitude that sent them down last time. (we won't go down they said, we're too good!) Ha!
I think it's fair to say you both went into the game with patched up teams. The problem with derbies is that you hardly ever play each other when you're both bang in form and truly test each other. Too many derbies are argued about on paper, it never comes down to paper on the day. Look at City and United this year, both winning away in the derbies - it came down to who turned up on the day. Pardew shouldn't be taken seriously. There's only one way the fans will give him respect and it's not by saying Newcastle should finish well above you next season, it's by doing it, he's just another cockney gobshite, all talk and no substance and Newcastle will continue to 'underachieve' (play ****) if they don't dispatch him. As as footnote, I reckon you're in for a busy summer, different breed of players lined up I reckon.
