Could we attract a player of this quality to the club in the summer if we stay up?

    He's hardly prolific poolie?

43 goals in 264 games? Only 16 in 90 games for Seville? Not even 1 in 5 mate.

I'd hope to attract far better players than this.

I'm with Cest here mate, I would be more disappointed if that is the best we could attract.

    really?

I think he is quality, not got a good record infront of goal but a creative player that will create chances for others

shocked by the replies 2bh, thought I would of been looking at replies such as no chance, far to good for us

    Cest,

Don't take goals per game as a basis for a midfielders contribution.

This lads only flaw is a lack of pace, he has phenomenal technical ability, great touch, vision and delivery.

His goals ratio is comparable to Ozil, Modric etc, would we also dismiss these cats?

That said, his lack of pace is CHRONIC, and that for me would see him fail in England.

I've heard tales about Diamanti, formerly of West Ham, a terrier like player scoring and creating for Bologna, a regular Italy international to boot, but personally for me the CM has to be one of 4, all of which would be long shots, and cost major bucks.

    Ljalic
    Fernandez (both Fiorentina)
    Valbuena
    Gourcuff (clearly available...)

Someone mentioned Diego earlier, some coup that would be but not realistic, we could do worse than someone like Grenier of Lyon, or look at Lens of PSV.

Bernat of Betis has really caught my eye at times, and that is very realistic, although he does fade out of games, Paolo would likely remedy this tho!

I think we need pace mate and not another one paced canny passer.

We also need goals from midfield and I would rather we went for a player like that. That said you've had a canny handle on these lads playing in Spain so I'm happy to bow to your superior knowledge on this occasion?

going to be interesting how we do our business this summer

wonder if we will go down the foreign route, after the over inflated prices we have paid in the last few years from buying in the prem and seeing the likes of Swansea and Newc pick up quality for peanuts then I wouldn't be surprised if we went that way

As I said Cest, personally wouldn't go for him, I agree we need more pace, and more goals.

Actual regular goalscoring CM's are very, very rare though, when you look, you won't see any bar Lampard getting a large amount, and that includes the likes of Schweinsteiger, Pirlo, Ozil, the real cream of CM's.

More what we need is a creative player with tight control freeing up Sess and AJ, both capable of getting 8 a season from out wide.

It's Mati Fernandez for me, but it's just not realistic to see a Chilean come here, he's the textbook player type we need IMO.

Closer to home, McCarthy at Wigan could do a job linking front and back, Sigurdsson of Spurs could become available, and will get 8-10 plus assists, Ruiz of Fulham I've mentioned, and then there's Marko Marin of Chelsea, not gone great for him but he's a stunning talent, he will be loaned or sold surely.

You're spot on about his pace mate.
He would struggle in the Prem at how tough and fast he would have to be imo.
No doubting he has some canny touches, but in Spain they let the flair players have the ball for awhile before considering a tackle. Here he would be clattered every time.
I would have expected a hell of a lot more goals from him than he has delivered.

Mind saying that I thought Hazard would struggle in the Prem, but he does have the benefit of some very good players around him.

Hazard is different level though mate, one of the most naturally talented on the planet.

Daft thing is, Ivan has a fierce shot on him, and the way CB's stand off in La Liga, he SHOULD get goals.

Sevilla also have Piotr Trochowski, one of my fave players to watch, and a not unrealistic target, he'd likely only cost £5million, and is a real ****ing player on his day.

Rakitic isn't just slow, he's ****ing glacial.

He's very tidy Cerci, my concern there is he's been switched position about 8 times, and has already failed at 2 bigger clubs.

He doesn't seem to know what he is, and for that reason, I'd be dubious.

Fantastic to watch mate, skill, strength, workrate.

Reckon he'll be at Chelsea, with Torres back at Atletico and Falcao moving on, probably within Spain.

No way could we get benat. That bloke is destined for big things in the next year to 18 months, very very good midfielder and thankfully at my 2nd side at the minute, Betis.

I agree, I watch stacks of Spanish, and kinda the opposite of you grew to dislike Betis & Sevilla living in Marbs and going to Malaga!

He's 25 mate, a move to a massive club doesn't beckon for him, he's already older than Ozil, Herrara, Buanonotte, Isco, and several more CM's at the bigger Spanish clubs.

It's far from impossible to think we could get the lad.

Kucka who plays at Genoa, he's a holding midfield but also has very light feet and can start an attacking play off quite freely. Definitely the kind of player we should be looking at. He's like Cattermole but also a very good footballer. Would probably be available for about 3.5m - 5m.

Cerci is a great shout in my opinion. I noticed him earlier on in the season when I watched Torino draw 2-2 at Inter Milan and he played a hell of a game. He has pace, can beat a man and put a good ball in but he is equally as good when cutting inside and getting his shots off. Would probably be available for about 5.5m - 6.5m.

Wilfried Bony, I have championed him for a couple of seasons now. I don't think he is out of our reach and rumour has it West Ham are sniffing about him now. A great centre forward, built like an ox but is also very prolific. Would be a real asset to the team. Probably available for about 10m - 12m

Bony would be a superb signing mate.

For all that he lacks pace, because of the way he uses his body and size, it matters little.

He'd score goals in England, no question.

    Not impossible that one.

going to be interesting to see who we go for

there is some very good players around europe that we could get for a good price that would improve us drastically

IMO we need 8 or 9 in the summer, obv. not all going into the first team but the squad seriously needs beefing up but an injection of quality added into the first team

I have to say I would love us to go and get a big powerful striker

Benteke or M'Bokani at Anderlecht would be class for us IMO, Rose has to be at the top of the pile mind of our summer targets

    Danny Rose
    RB
    CB x2
    CM X2
    W
    CF x2

We really shouldn't be signing more than 4 or 5 players. 8 or 9 is just disruptive.
