Just goes to show the defence was never the problem, just our inability to keep the ball under Warnock
Great start for the gaffer. Worrying last ten minutes which I'm sure he will pick up on but the players are playing for him & playing football which we all want to see. Lets hope Elland road gets it buzz back every week next season
Exactly. Now that we're actually retaining possession instead of needlessly smashing it upfield and gifting the ball to the opposition, our defensive record can only improve.
Great result again but shocking attendance, less than 17k. What's it going to take to bring back the crowds. Warnock, bates and goofball are all gone but attendances dropping
Alright lads, just got back from training I see that we scaped a 1-0. Brilliant. Did we ridde our luck at all or were we worth the win?
Absolutely fantastic performance. We were well worth the win. Could have scored more, still lacking a little cutting edge going forward to really cut teams open but looks a lot more promising. We were playing from the back a lot, Paddy Kenny playing short goal kicks and rolling it to the full backs. Had a few incidents where we were under pressure and instead of panicking and lumping it up field, the defenders were getting their heads up and passing it to someone else. Cool, calm and collected under pressure, something we haven't seen for a while.
Boggers it was just over 16 n half thousand and was pathetic but to be expected I have never watched worse football than this seasons lot. Warnock n Bates really have ****ed us up
Whatever Habby. We're clearly moving on. When even the players are talking about the fact that they're now passing it around a bit more than was recently the case with opposition Managers commenting, it bodes well for next season. Even Somma may be in a position to push for a starting place. Hopefully they'll offer him a 6 month contract to prove his fitness with a projected add on of another 2 to 3 years if he does indeed confirm his fitness. I certainly wouldn't want him coming back to haunt us if we got rid too quickly.
I am over the moon with the 6 points however I do believe we are racing ahead of ourselves a little... 1) Players are going to lay the blame at Warnocks feet, at the end of the day it is the players that have let us down, yes we have been playing too much hoof ball but these are the same players that could turn it on against Everton but not Ipswich and Peterborough. 2) Six points against POOR teams - we haven't just beat Cardiff and Watford Not taking anything away from what has happened so far but don't let this be wool pulled over our eyes, we have a poor quality squad and if the board start thinking the same as some of us on here then they too are going to believe we do not need much in the way of funds or new signings.
Slightly harsh there, Sheffield Wednesday were top of the form table prior to playing us, and Burnley are inconsistent but a good team, clearly one that missed Austin though. And the squad is definitely short in a number of important areas, but overall the quality is not anywhere near as bad as you make it out to be. Yes we have accumulated a lot of dross, but there are some good players in there, and with a new philosophy and system that suits those we have available, I think you'll see that they are actually decent players.
Tactics can make a HUGE difference. Those that were at the last two games can tell us more, I am sure!
