Cut the always believe crud out. Looking forward to the match coming and the sips this season. Angry no way still the chance here of a club to feel part of rising forwards. Lads this week meeting club to discuss possible new end v an enclosure, others talking about and putting money into fans activities for next season for the EE. All could be wiped out by BCFC by the wrong move off the park. That's the BCFC that interests me most. You make what you can of it all.
Maybe you are right so I have made a slight word change but at the moment it's the club I support, not any individual or internal points of view, that's just the way I feel, apart from being pissed right off at going down..
I'm not angry we have gone down - just ............ sad I guess is the best word But, the club could not go on losing money at the rate it was. We MUST look forward - I'll be there next season - hopefully we will win a few more games, have a younger (hungry) squad and will get a few grounds in I hvae not yet been to (Stevenage and Orient for me)
I think fans need to start defining what BCFC is. But, the club could not go on losing money at the rate it was. In effect that is Steve Lansdown. Now there is an opportunity to go back to basics and re-invent BCFC as a fully functioning FC.
Not happy to be going down. Happy to still have something of a club to support unlike Portsmouth, Coventry, Dunfermline, Glasgow Rangers and the rest. We will not be the 'biggest' club going down, and what will happen to those clubs, who have carried on over-spending, will be interesting to see.
Going down is not the end of the world...a lot of it is to do with ego and fear of others' perceptions. It depends what sort of supporter you are. I've really enjoyed visiting many of the lower division grounds; and mixing with a few thousand supporters from the other club; and being able to have good conversations without animosity is great. Some of this gets lost higher up the leagues. There are good laughs to have, good feelings when you're just one of a few hundred who have travelled and seen a good result; being able to hear the players encourage/moan at one another! Grounds to visit which still have identity and uniqueness. If it's your club you love her, no matter how well or ill she is!
Taking a bit of that back. Meeting Thursday about redevelopment of Ashton gate is fans parliament only so won't be attended by lads behind EE events petition and the rest. Bristol City is very much about Steve Lansdown the part of the club I am most enthusiastic about less so. Going down could be more fun no international breaks different cup competition more games maybe at Ashton gate. Bristol City off the pitch still has life to it that other clubs have lost I hope to see that improved with a new Ashton gate.
Pirate49 - what a well thought out post and not a hint of piss taking there. Most of my life City have been in the lower leagues and I used to really enjoy visiting the smaller grounds where we were considered the big boys. The past few seasons have been so negative that a stint of actually beinf successful will make a refreshing change. I'm honestly not concerned about the financial implications as this will force us to live within our means and not have to rely on Steve quite so much. We can only hope that Financial Fair Play is correctly implemented and enforced in all leagues and some semblance of reality returns to football after years of ridiculous transfer fees and evem nore ridiculous salaries. Thanks again for the post Pirate and good luck to you for the rest of the season as you have well and truly turned the corner now.
Take some short term pain for long term gain. My feeling is that you will start enjoying your matchdays much more, especially as there is less pressure in L1,some new faces will set the field alight, expectations will be more realistic. And potentially you will win more than you have done over the last two years, so optimism will return. I bet Wiz you are looking forward to the clearout of overpaid underperforming players and the hope that O Driscoll uncovers some gems. I know its doubtfull however unlikely mathematically you could still avoid the drop. COR View attachment 22969
We will always remember how nice you lot were when we got relegated Reap what sow boys and girls There is going to be a big harvest tonight
Hello QPR fan in peace. I wouldn't be surprised to be playing you in a couple of seasons time. It's been bad but I can see it getting a lot worse for us. What comes through from this thread is how deep footballing support runs. Managers come and go, players come and go, leagues come and go but we the supporters remain. However dire things may be we still live for our team. That feeling when you approach the ground never leaves you. Oh well. Good luck next reason. May it be a good one.
Dito above. No pressure now. Just enjoy the rest of the season. This has been coming for a couple of seasons since we had Steve Copout sorry Coppell, and the strange signing of David James. Have a good clear out over the summer and reduce the wage bill. Lets hope we have a sunny summer because the winter Saturdays nights have not been fun.
no wum or piss taking in this comment from me as this thread suggest would happen. i will be respectful and offer you best wishes for next season. its not nice being relegated (state the obvious i know) and we have been relegated in the last few years so i know the pain/anger you may be feeling. P49 is correct in his comment. now its official, i think you will end up winning the rest to be honest as no pressure etc etc. that will give you a positive going into the summer. a lot of us thought we be straight back up after our relegation but we struggled as you know and thats an understatement. i dont think you will struggle. i think with the right signings you reds be more happier challenging at the right end of league 1 than struggling at the foot of the championship for another season. think going down is exactly what you need to change your club from top to bottom on how things are run like finances etc. a fresh start will do you good and last time you got promoted you nearly got promoted again to the prem. this relegation may be the kick up the ass your club needs if that makes sense so if you apply the bouncebackability mentality next season instead of feeling sorry for yourselves like our club did when we went down you may do a southampton/norwich this relegation has been on the cards for awhile so in a way its old news so i doubt you will get the piss taking that you think you will get
Next season you will be in a Promotion battle instead of a dogfight - League 1 ain't so bad - new grounds to visit and no teams that try to buy their way to the promised land of plastic support. Keep your fanbase intact, support your team and the wurzels will be back in the Championship soon enough
