Good Grief Judo No depth .. this squad will easily be the best in the Championship ... it's not Mordor. Posters on here have doom in their souls ... sort it out
The biggest myth in football is that the Championship is a tough league. Is it f*ck Generally it is just an even league. The gap between the budgets and ability of the players is far narrower. Cardiff top to Bristol City bottom have a fairly small difference. With our car crash of a seaon excepted the funding into Man United compared to Reading is worlds apart. Our budget next year will dwarf a lot of other teams in the league and we will retain more than enough quality to dominate the league. The only challenge is mustering 14-15 players who will genuinely put in effort. The simple promotion solution is to keep Adel. He can piss all over that league again Because of the mixed season he has had this year I do not think that anyone will offer us much money (40% of which would go to Spurs). This combined with the length of his contract for me means that he will almost certainly stay. Therefore revert to our championship promotion side shape. So instead of: ------Kenny---------------------------------------------------------Green-------- Orr---Gorkss—Connolly—Hill------------------------------Onouha----Samba----New signing---Traore -----Derry----Faurlin------------------------------------------Faurlin--------Diakite(hopefully Mbia) Mackie----Adel-------Routledge--------------------------------Mackie------Adel--------Hoilett ---------Helguson--------------------------------------------------------Zamora Subs: Cerny, Hulse, Hall, Smith,Ephraim Subs: Murphy, Ben Haim, Jenas, AJ, Bothroyd. If we get rid of Granero, Cesar, Park and Bosingwa, Barton and SWP then we can afford to keep Samba. And give Hoilett a chance, he’s young and showed at Blackburn he has ability and chips in with goals. Especially capable at Championship level The current team is far better. Rose tinted glasses for those saying otherwise. I mean Rob Hulse got a regular game!!!
An interesting post PD until the bit where you put Jenas as sub and Mackie in the starting line-up - was that a typo?
Nice one Peter ... Judo have a butchers ... Jenas on his own becomes the best midfielder in the division instantly ... if not name another one? Silly sods on here will also see SWP come back like a demon Absolute bollocks this talk of struggling ... Look I stand corrected about how the team did but FFS look at the squad ... we fail and fall in the championship then Montpellier becomes my number one focus ... How can the infected not realise how sick they are ? because they are infected! we have been dreadful yes but that cannot continue ... Also Park will stay and he is quality so there !
Are Bolton coming straight up DT? afterall they were only a point behind us last season - hope Montpellier have a good forum and are an understanding bunch considering the ****e you spout about those who have a different opinion to you.
Listen Madrid It's clear that this season's poor performances are clearly down to yourself and Flyer ... both of you should take full responsibility for this IMO ... How on earth are you going to make it up to us? Bolton are in the mix Madrid ... stay in Madrid you bloody ... thing I am by the way far fitter and stronger than you as well I am a level 100 whereas you are only a level 70 and you don't have any good skills
DT I respect your positivity, and that is great as you never give up. But you think that I am being negative and doom and gloom about it - tbh its just being realistic. As I say its great you are positive all the time and have been until the weekend, but I try to remain a bit more realistic, and at this time it is more negative than not. The players we have this year have let us down badly, and have been shocking for the large part. Individually they are good, but as a team they are not and half dont even care, which makes me sick. I am genuinely interested to know what makes you think they will be the strongest squad in the NPC? The squad that I my original comment referred to: --------------Green------------------- Traore---Hill------M'Bia-----Onouha Jenas--Faurlin---Diakite-----Tarbs -------Bothroyd---DJ The Rest: Murphy Suk Young, Harriman, Ben Haim, Magri Ephraim, Hoilett, Mackie, Ehmer, Doughty, Derry, Andrade, Balanta, Sutherland AJ, Hulse The First 11 looks ok, but the rest look a complete shambles tbh. Probably 4-5 contenders for regular first team football taking our squad to 15-16. Then the rest are young and barely tried at NPC level. Thats not being doom and gloom - its the truth. I cannot see how that would compete at the top end of the NPC. And even if we keep the likes of Granero, Park etc.. what makes everyone think they will suddenly turn it on? They have barely done it this season. They should be mid table. Look at Blackburn and Wolves - they didnt make too many changes and are struggling badly. I hope to god we dont, but imo that squad would struggle. Dont look at that as me being negative, its realistic.
You are not being 'realistic' you are being pessimistic. This is clear in your gross misrepresnetation of what our squad will look like. You must have bumped your head if you think we will have a squad that needs to give games to likes of Magri and Harriman. We will without a doubt make some sigings over the summer and you can bet your life that these wont be Bosingwa esque mercenary signings. I think most people do want Park and Granero to leave and don't think those types will 'turn it on'. But a key reasons amongst a complex mix of other reasons certain players will do far better next year is: Confidence- This is a massive factor in football. Currently our eam has 0 confidence but with good reason I think we can put the sort of run together that breeds confidence. Also the quality of opposition is far lower and this will tie in with confidence and belief if managed well. Reading side this year is very similar to the side league winning side that dominated the Championship the year before. Step up was too much for them but with a run of confidence these less able players can put a strong run together if managed well. Man for man the quality in that side was far lower than what we can expect to see next year.
So wrong. Anyone with half a brain would acknowledge they would at least take a view again in January to seee our chances of going straight back up before they write off the millions they have already invested Also Training ground is progressing and we are continuing to use the worlds best and probably most expensive architects for sports stadia. Training ground planning permission to be announced this week and has a very strong case for being granted. So likelihood it will be. The continued progress of this is a sign they arent going anywhere.
we will struggle in the championship. The inertia of our current season alone will cost us points, especially in a totally different football world. Its interesting that the bigger the gap between the EPL and the NPC becomes, the more relegated teams seem to struggle. The league is a graveyard of former premier league sides who's fans no doubt thought that their squads would walk the Championship. Ours couldn't even beat MK Dons so I dont know where this optimism is coming from and I cant for a moment believe that HR is up to speed with up and coming young players from the lower leagues who will make a difference. I'm concerned.
I strongly agree re the 'confidence' issue. In our promotion year we went for about as many games as it took us to get a win this year! We must get the psychology right next season. Come out hard and fast and win, win and win again. Another losing run will see us scrabbling at the wrong end like Blackburn
Precisely .............. If you have confidence, the skill will show and flow. Confidence is everything. We see it proven time and time again. Hindsight is a marvellous thing ...................... consider the previous season opening game. We get thumped 4-0 and we only just survived the season, so.............. this season, opening game .............. we get thumped a bit harder 5-0 ........................ and the season outcome, well, the writing was on the wall all along, eh? Anyway, getting back to next season regardless of where we are - we need a positive / confident start to the season, just like the one we had when we were promoted. I'm sure some or maybe most of us thought that the start that season was much better than what we would have expected. We have now have two starts to two seasons where we expected much much more than what we got. Maybe next season, third time lucky!
As I said that wasnt my squad - that was one posted in this thread earlier by WBA I think. The comments from others were that that squad would be good enough to get us up - and I disagreed - which clearly you do to by your response. I never once said that was the squad I wanted, and that is a squad I actually think is awful.
Yes judo it was my squad and no I don't think it's awful at all. It's a damn right better than the side that got us promoted IMO. It's all down to confidence and managerial arse kicking
Sorry, but i dont think that squad actually looks that good. take out Tarbs "flicks & tricks" (because everyone has seen it now & IT WONT BE ANYTHING NEW; and it leaves a fairly average squad !- Plus the fact that he may poss leave for foriegn shores? Agree with Col, that with a bit of tinkering it has the potential and players like Jenas (shoot me now) would do a good job in the NPC. What ever happens i think we still need a striker & a CB as remy will be gone & prob Samba too. Think I've we've been in this position before havent we !
