Unconfirmed reports today that Spurs have signed Cristian Ceballos Prieto, an attacking midfielder who fell out with and subsequently left his club, Barcelona. Ceballos was the captain of Barca's U17 team and having read a few forums, he is considered by Barca's fans a good prospect, lets hope they are right and this is not another Dos Santos!. He has beeen training with the chavs for a few weeks but they apparently dragged their heels over offering him a contract and 'Arry came in and offered him a 3 year deal. Not got the link but the story is on espn. There's also a video of him ball juggling (not a euphamism) on you tube with Ronaldinho.
I'd love to hear that. Barca youth is usually good, especially if captain of one of their youth teams. And Dos Santos was a waste of money, simple as really. We need players like this, to build for the future, as our academy isn't the best in the league, far from it actually. We like to buy people around 17-20, and train them from there, rather than take them at 12-13. We need to improve lower down, but our strategy hasn't been too bad so far. We've brought up Lennon, Dawson, Bale, and now Danny Rose. You'll most likely mock me for the last 1, but in recent appearances, he's put in a shift, and he can cross the ball
Not just Arsenal do it, they're just successful at it. Many other big teams in Europe can do it, but England seems to lack this. Liverpool have been showing this season they have alot of young players coming through. We seem to send ours on loan, and then they disappear into the wilderness. Hopefully being in the Europa League will allow us to play them in a spurs shirt. For example, Taraabt, we bought him, promising talent, stole him from under Arsenal's nose, and then we get rid of him. Now he's set the championship alight, and will now be showing himself off in the PL this season, right where we should've put him in the first place
http://www.guillembalague.com/rumor... trialling Barcelona graduate Ceballos&id=297 UPDATE: Following on from a tweet yesterday in response to Spurs fans asking for info on Cristian Ceballos: a bit of an update. Contrary to yesterday`s press reports, the young Spanish forward has not yet signed a 3 year deal with Tottenham. Harry Redknapp is having a look at the player who also recently had a trial with Chelsea, but no deal has been done yet. Ceballos, a graduate of La Masia, possesses all the technique and ability you`d expect from any product of FC Barcelona’s youth academy. The outside world first became aware of the small, left footed forward when a video appeared showing him performing tricks with Ronaldinho back in 2008. However, despite his evident skill, throughout his time at the club, there were persistent concerns over his diminutive stature and physique that ultimately led to his release. He recently had a trial at Chelsea, training with the reserves and first team – and again, while his technical ability impressed, the London club determined that they would only offer him a reserves contract that reflected their belief that he may be one for the future and were not prepared to offer him a first team contract. Reports yesterday suggested that Spurs had identified the player as someone who would make an impact on the Premier League within 12 months, but considering the above – especially the fact that FC Barcelona, arguably the club least likely to give up on a player because of his size – decided that the player lacked the necessary physical attributes, you’d have to question the accuracy of those reports and whether he would be ready quite so soon. Nevertheless, I am told that the player has been working hard at his all round game, is less individualistic than he was and is focused on improving his overall contribution beyond goalscoring. As a free transfer, Spurs may consider that it is worth a gamble on a player who was labelled as one of the most talented of his age group in Barcelona.
