They are not worth the effort mate...If he can't see that the thread in question was not making fun of that lads disability then there is little hope of getting any sensible debate from him..He probably even thinks there is nothing wrong with Aldridge Prior's blatantly racist sad attempt at humour.

Negro is still a commonly accepted term for black people in the US. I bet my bottom dollar you're the type of person who uses the term 'coloured' instead of saying 'black' or 'asian'.

Get a sense of humour you anal twat.

    mans a complete waste..........moderator!.............

    trying to calm down now...........

I used to deliver the papers around Hall Farm when I was a lad..............made more for nicking chocolate in Fourboys (spelling?)as they gave me my papers than from delivering them........

Come to think of it I used to play in the field/ponds where Hall Farm was built before it was built

As a studier of the social sciences I can assure you that I'm well aware of what is acceptable terminology. For the record, the term 'negro' is deeply associated with slavery in American culture, so I would say you are very-much mistaken in your assessment.
In other words, your attempt at humour was in my opinion nothing more than racist drivel.

I'm originally from Ryhope, but moved to Hall Farm about 9 years ago. One of my sons has just packed his paper round in from Forbouys. I can't imagine what the place looked like before the estate was built: probably very rural though!

Care to elaborate? 'Negro' was preferred to the 'N' word as being more polite which seems odd now but it holds nowhere near as much weight. I wouldn't use it personally but for the purpose of a play on words it's never caused any offence.

For the record I heard the joke on prime time TV being told by a black bloke. It's a play on words. It's no more harmful than saying "white men can't jump".

And also, I assume you're white, what gives you the right to dictate what is or isn't offensive to black people?

You can assume all you like about the colour of my skin, but if you are of the opinion you can go round calling a black person a negro and not cause offence then you are well out of touch with reality.
Also, by the very fact that you wrote this "joke" under the tag that I find racist jokes offensive says all I need to know regarding your motives.

I see you are taking a lead from your moderator in the fact that when you are losing the debate you refer to swearing and insults.
Why not just take what I'm saying on board and try to be a more civilised human being: you know it makes sense.

You're the one mis-quoting people here and for someone supposedly studying "social sciences" you really should get to grips with the common social phenomenon known as humour. Go on, give it a try, make an off-the-cuff remark. I dare ya.

Sorry, but I don't associate racism with humour: if you do find racist jokes funny then our sense of humour differs widely and we will never be able to agree. For that reason I will not be adding any more comments to this thread.

    Returning to the OP:

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones and people who can't spell should get someone who can to help with their poster!
