I would like to hereby BAN Gaston from taking any free kicks.

Simply vote yes or no and well carry the motion forward.

He did well with a couple today, notably the one that found Lambert.

But generally his set-piece delivery is too erratic. So, yes - I'd agree with you that we should let someone else take them.

I'm hoping this doesn't become a Gaston ****-storm thread though.

Aside from the one to Lambert, they were all terrible. I'm a big Gaston fan, but his set pieces today... yeahhhhh. Don't know why we weren't using Fox more.

To be fair, the second half ones were all with a following wind weren't they? You would think someone else could have had a go from the right though. Fox took one later on that was OK.

Just remember we have Gaston to thank for our goal today.

If you want to moan then get on the West Ham manager's and player's backs not our boys who despite the weather, some brutal opposition and the worst performance I have ever seen from a referee (who was so biased I began to think he must have a brown envelope in his rucksack courtesy of Fat Sam) were denied what should have been a victory.

I think the problem is that Fox is so low on confidence that he just wants to keep his head down and not make any mistakes. His free kick in the last minute was by far the best.

Probably agree with this but it's a shame as free kicks are the only thing he is actually good at!

A left-footed midfielder taking kicks is often a useful thing. And we know he can hit some nice ones.

So ban him? No. But could use an extra session at training! :D

Awful free-kicks, but took his goal very well.

Yeah I think they could do with a little extra experimenting in training this week. Good thing everything else about Gaston's game was good today, because a few of Gaston's regular critics would be having a field day now otherwise.

Should have heard the person behind me. "He's not Premier League class. At all." "He needs to get subbed off now." "****ing Ramirez, again!!!" "He needs to go, simple as that." "YESSSSSSS RAMIREZ WHAT A GOAL, PURE CLASS! OHHHH GASTON RAMIREZ!" "**** sake, terrible all game." "Thank **** he's finally going off."

"How can Ramirez be six times better than Michu?"

Fortunately, I don't think the fella behind me knows who Michu is.

I seem to be repeating myself a lot of late. Why are we not allowed to discuss the match. Yes we played pretty well and all the boys worked hard. No one is having a go at gaston just saying his free kicks were poor which they were and we would rather have someone else take them. Why is that not allowed on a football forum?

Probably because there is already a match thread where the positives and negatives of small things like this can be discussed. Is Ramirez taking a few duff kicks really such a pressing priority that it needs its own thread to discuss whether he should be "banned" from taking them?

Not that it bothers me personally, mind you. I can just see how people will take it the wrong way, as there have been two or three negative threads on Ramirez in the last week, and no threads for "Nice Goal Ramirez" or "Ramirez could have had two assists today!"

After last week I was dreading seeing another Gaston row.
His free kicks were poor and frustratingly he had five or six from the same area. One did result in the Lambert chance/Yoshida push though. I do think he hits a good corner but against teams like West Ham we're not going to get much change from set pieces.
Pleased he got his goal as you can see confidence is not high compared to Rodriguez who came out on fire.

He is out of form but I would say he is a brave player in the sense he doesn't shy away and keeps wanting the ball.

An ok season and let's hope for an injury free pre-season

No one was able to plant properly when taking free kicks; Jaaskelainen consistently ended up on the floor after his goal kicks.

I don't think there's such a thing as a pressing priority when it comes to discussing football. The more in-depth we get about the team's strategy the better, in my opinion. It's better than all the "look what Lawro said about us today" discussions.

I think you should take a more balanced view of a game and not just one or two isolated instances to criticise a player. I agree with you three of his free kicks were over hit today but I would take you more seriously if just once in a while you had something positive to say about any of our players.

You can say what you like but I don't have to agree with you and you don't have to come over all hurt because I say so.
