Is the sum Blackstairmountain picked up for winning an egg and spoon grade one in Japan.

They ran him in a prep race a few weeks before where he finished well down the field so they probably made a nice killing on the race, as well as the prize money.

Ya have to say what great placing of a horse, sending one such a long way knowing he would be good enough to land the spoils, excellent stuff.

Knowing the Japanese they will have paid the travel expenses, I don't know the cost of equine flights to Japan, but they're about $6,000 per horse to the USA.

A fantastic training and placing performance by Mr Mullins and Blackstairmountain at a single stroke has won more prizemoney than many top class horses manage throughout the duration of their entire NH career! If there was a hat on the Chuckle bonce right now then I’d doff it in recognition of a first class bit of work.

I’m sure many owners are looking at this result and asking their trainers, with a certain amount of animosity in their voice, ‘Why, I say why, wasn’t my beast entered in this!’
