http://www.firstrow1.eu/watch/180585/1/watch-manchester-united-academy-vs-southampton-academy.html, worth a look starts at 11 at trafford training centre.
We are currently second in the table and need to be in top three to progress. After 2 consecutive losses, we need a win to consolidate our position. COYR
1-0 to united we've been controlling the match got beaten down the left, keeper johns made a good save but the rebound fell to a united player who finished from 6 yards, thought johns could have saved it but didn't see it too well.
Really quite poor from our lads so far. Dominated the game but our play in the final third has been attrocious. It's been a couple of games since i've seen the lads play but looks a side quite low on confidence in front of goal compared to how we were a few games back. Shame really. Need a big improvement second half
It's still 1-0 We've been the better side but the balls we're putting into the box have been very poor perhpas due to a strong wind but we should have adapted to the wind quicker. Ariyibi has looked dangerous, one decent shot and beat his man a few times, he made a dangerous run into the box and could have shot or crossed but passed it to the fullback who couldn't stop it going out for a corner. Sam Gallagher has looked decent, a few good touches and won some headers would have benefited from a cross. Ryan seager lobbed the keeper and the ball might have crossed the line but it wasn't given. He has hardly had a touch and was breathing heavier than anyone, we are pressing quite a lot but he might be not quite up to fitness. Our midfield are small but have put in a few decent challenges and they look like they can pass it around, with Ariyibi and Rowe down the flanks we have a lot pace which we have looked to exploit not enough though I feel. United have been far stronger in the challenges and have showed aggression something that we have completely lacked. They seem to want to win any physical challenge a lot more. We will have the wind in our favour next half which should be a help
Have been absolutely robbed in this game. 2-0 Utd now. All Saints pressure during the second half but no end product. Utd go up the other end and score. Should be noted that the ref has done us no favours in this game with Utd making foul after foul with no booking. The ref has just booked one of their players but too little too late. Obviously the Utd commentators are puring over this ref display and their teams play. In reality we have been very very poor in and around the box
Saints make 3/4 passes...foul.... Saints gain the ball make a few passes....foul.... Ball gets played forward by Saints... foul. Utd attempt to hit on the break. Repeat for 90 minutes = this game. Aweful watch!
And there it is. 2 bad fouls (from Utd). Saints loose the ball. Utd breakaway and score. 3-0. Game over
3-0 scorer of the header scores with a well taken finish, harrison reed coffed it up in the middle and united scored on the counter. United have been better this half with a few neat exchanges, we have been **** really
We we're rubbish for most of the match, harrison reed was probably our best player but he wasn't very good. Quite a few of our players played for the u21s a few days beforehand so they could have been fatigued from that. The referee and wind didn't suit our style. Gallagher looked quite good with the ball at his feet, when it was in the air he didn't compete hard enough for it. He had one reasonable header just off target, another time a good ball was put in by the fullback but he didn't get a touch on it despite being in a very good position. One other thing was that for pretty much every throw in and every freekick we kept trying to steal as much ground as we could. There was some comment that Lambert's freekick against chelsea was taken from a slightly advanced position and it is definitely worth trying when you can get within goal range.
