Found this on another blog and think it takes more of a fan view than the one that Rodgers and some of the players did ( which I believe LG made a thread about)...

I'd agree with much in that article.

Except I would point out. Prior to January we were worse than last year. If you look at us since January we look a much better team.

Season as a whole we average about last year level but Sturridge and Cout have helped us... plus the others have steadily improved.

I have therefore more optimism going into this summer than last.

I think signings will be more crucial than normal this summer. We won't break top 4 with what we've got... and if Rodgers brings in more Borinis, Ass man, Sahin, Yesil types we can kiss top 8 goodbye.

However I think a couple more Coutinhos and we will be breathing down the top 4s necks and creeping them out.

I feel the same as the OP it's not been a great season give me last seasons cup win anyday over a higher finish and no cup. Lets just hope that we get a couple of quality players in and show a big improvement next season.

Really is a big big summer. Although starting out with Ashley Williams won't get my hopes up! <laugh>

If we sign ash Willy it will prove that January was an anomaly and Rodgers doesn't have a clue after all.

Williams is a left centre back I really dont see it happening. He's a good player but not what we need.

Like I kept saying last season, the law of averages said that's what would happen. I seriously doubt players were being coached only to aim for th4e postage stamp.

To my mind, which you're all well-aware of,, we took a big step up with Kenny but took two steps back with brendan and his step length is a lot shorter.

The latest backward step is bringing in a 29 yr old centre half from Swansea. Nothing wrong with older players who are top players but when they're languishing, even if they're the best player at a mid-table club, it can't be said to be a step forward, not when you're losing players like Agger with substantial top four experience.

Brendan has also said no Europe or cup action will be better for top four, thus showing he's in with the corps that what matters is that CL money. But how many of you have ever bantered with oppo fans about our top four finishes? Do we mention 5 Big Ears wins, 18 leagues and a bunch of top fours? No. because we don't give a **** about then in the long run. We'll remember last season's league cup long after our last Champions League game has fallen off the record books.

Agree with that point on Williams tbf. If you hang around MFG, what are your thoughts on the small rumblings of Ancelotti at Anfield? I would assume a yes?
