UEFA plan 10 match ban for racist abuse

What about sexism? I feel that needs addressing first. There isn't enough of it in the game.

Quite frankly Halsey/Webb/Dowd etc are nothing compared to Massey, who gets almost everything right, so can we not just make women refs instead? Men are ****!!!

Of course, they'll have to be fairly athletic, given the demands of running around... That might mean that they might have to be young adults... And obviously, in order to save on the added cost of the extra material women need for outfits (at a certain area), they'll have to make the uniform a bit tighter, and maybe skimpier as well (financial fair play should be followed by the FA as well)... Additionally, I know how much of an irritation bras can be for women, so I'd be in favour of them not being forced to wear such fascist items... Oh and they'll have to wear their hair down, because I find it sexier...

If Racist comments are a 10 match ban, then violent conduct should be a season long ban.

 

I think its about time this sort of stance was taken. For once, fair play to UEFA. Racism has no place in football or football stadiums.

If it takes an OTT reaction to stamp it out then that's what it takes. I agree there are other concerns in football, but stamp them out too - don't water down this one.

 

From another point of view, a bad tackle is a bad tackle, it can happen to a black player, a white player, a muslim player, an asian player, anyone. Unless you specifically go in and think, I'm gonna break that black blokes leg because I don't like black people, a bad tackle is something that can happen. While I accept sometimes you see particularly bad ones which deserve more than the ban they get, it's a complete lottery over whose on the receiving end.
Racism however, is different. You purposefully insult someone because they have a different colour skin or origin. The colour of your skin isn't a choice, it's genetic. Racially abusing someone is almost abusing someone for simply being born, or abusing their parents for having a child. I can understand sometimes if someone does something to offend you, you may want to throw some abuse their way, but why does something they have no control over have to come into it? The racism controversy is something which realistically shouldn't exist for any reason at all, so only by being heavy handed can you truly end it.
Football is a contact sport, as long as that remains you're going to get injuries, whether with malice or not, people are going to lose concentration and make mistakes. Racism is pre meditated abuse with no justification. It doesn't need to happen and shouldn't happen.

 

Can't see what the fuss is all about. If you don't want a 10 match ban, then don't be racist. Not too difficult.

Has racism been extended to alien races yet? For instance what is the laws position on saying "**** off you little green bastard"? Just to be clear. They're coming.

Not sure if that's illegal or not. We should ask them when they arrive if they mind it or not.
