    Skrtel > Williams

I'd be happy to have these next season as CB's:

    Agger
    Kelly
    Skrtel
One of - Alderweireld, De Vrij, Diakete, Dede, or similar.
    Wisdom (second role after RB)

  2. I think Williams is better than Skrtel but that doesn't mean I want us to sign him. Williams at £10+ is too much, the only way I'd be satisfied with AW is if he only cost about £5m which clearly isn't going to happen.

Like someone said above, I hope FSG's recruitment policy kicks in and stops it from happening!

I suppose the encouraging thing is, is that Rodgers identifies the need for a physically dominating defender. Williams and Alderweirald would provide good options at the back - one being the experienced leader, can dominate the opposition and is also used to the style of play. The other being a right sided version of Agger. Good experienced options to have. But not £12m!!! Pleas!!

I would much prefer someone like Sakho instead of Williams ...

    Taken from Twitter:

French newspaper, Parisien have reported that our owners have been in talks with Carlo Ancelotti.

Parisien is the most credible publication in France when it comes to football, after L'Equipe's rep took a plunge.

Could be for the managers position or as a Sporting Director ...

I just found some stats on the 2.

Martin Skrtel / Ashley Williams: Head to head

    Martin Skrtel Ashley WIlliams
    Aerial 50-50s won 70% 56%
    Ground 50-50s won 58% 51%
    Tackles won 84% 73%
    Mins per interception 53 31
    Mins per error 378 563
    Passing Accuracy 91% 87%

mins per error is a worry for Skrtel.

Skrtel has a far better amount of experience with a PL title challenge, Champions League, Europa League, FA and League cup finals, a World Cup competition as his countries captain.

  6. I don't use stats, I use my eyes <ok>

However, just for clarification, I don't think either are good enough to be a first choice player for a want-to-be top four side <ok>

Are these figures based on last season? Skrtel was in great form then.

Skrtel has committed something like 3 crucial errors this season though...

That is true. But I think those errors can be educated out of him.

Why would it be for the manager's position?

    #1191
  12. He' been at the club since January 2007. That is five and a half seasons and in that time he has had one good season, albeit, getting player of the year in the process. He is also 28 years old and will turn 29 by the end of the year, therefore he is in the prime of his career. Forgive me for having my doubts that education isn't the answer <laugh>

I still rate Skrtel, a defensive coach a la Clarke type would see us get last season's form out of him, and would be cheaper than a 12mill Williams.

Not saying that I want that to happen but it's a possibility.

The report didn't specify the type of role.

I agree, rather get better than both and get a new defensive coach. <ok>

When we signed Skrtel, 23yo Williams was playing for Stockport

According to the express (and nowhere else that I can see: so probably a load of poo poo)

Real will offer Higuain + cash for Suarez.

Quite a high profile player to offer... no news on how much money would be offered alongside him.

Doubt FSG would pay his required salary either.

If we got Higuain and Eriksen we would be getting a player born in Brest and a player born in Middelfart. Nice!

Anyhow... most likely just another dumb unfounded rumour.

Another thing about Higuain... if he grew up in France, spent his entire childhood there and never bothered to learn French...

He's most certainly not going to learn English if he comes to England which will cause problems with communication during training and during matches.
