http://metro.co.uk/2013/04/09/rafa-benitez-confident-of-return-as-liverpool-manager-3590001/ Or are they old quotes put together with new ones????????? I wouldnt hold your breath Rafa, he was never even considered by all accounts to succeed KK "Rafa Benitez has cranked up the pressure on Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers " from article Idiots
Thought there would be more chat about this on here tonight. I was listening to Talksport and they stated Rafa had said it was enivitable that he would come back to Liverpool.
Despite the odd comments throughout the day, I've only just got on here in the last twenty minutes and intended to come back to this. Personally, I can see Rafa returning one day (should BR not work out) but I don't see it happening until the likes of Johnson, Gerrard, Skrtel, Agger, Reina etc have moved on. Basically, not until it is a clean slate to start with. Obviously, I hope BR doesn't give Rafa the chance to come back!
Yeah its a tough one. It was would be very harsh to get rid of Rodgers now. I'm not totally sold but he could turn out to be very good. Can I see Rafa coming back and doing well? Yes. There is always the nagging feeling that he comes back, does terrible, and we look stupid as a result. People returning to clubs doesn't usually work out.
I just hope that if worst comes to worst and by the end of next season we're declining rather than improving I hope that if Rodgers was given the boot then Rafa would get the nod. But I genuinely hope Rodgers is a success here and we continue to improve. Rafa had his chance, and as much as I love the guy it's now somebody else's turn to have a crack at the whip.
Don't see it happening and in fairness, don't want it to happen. Rafa was obviously good for us, for a time, but I wasn't sad to see him go as he seemed to cause as many problems as he solved. Had the chance to take us to the prem title but blew it and it has been downhill since. BR has to be given time, at least another season. There are signs of progress and this summers dealings will see what ambition we have.
I would like to see Rafa come back to the club in some way, shape or form. He genuinely cares about the club and the fans, and he's not afraid to upset people (the board) by putting the club first. It's important to have these types of people at the club.
If BR doesn't work out (i.e. 7th next year and potless again) then I don't think i'd want anyone other than Rafa to take over. He loves the club, the fans and gets respect in the dressing room. I really hope that BR is given funds to buy 3-4 players in the summer because I think we have a good core of a team now with many promising youngsters - but if he is afforded this and doesn't deliver next season then I think a majority will be calling for his head.
