It was an odd game, on the face of it we picked a positive attacking side but it just didn't work like that. It was open and end to end in the first half, it was just that when City attacked they created far more space to work in while our attacks were laboured and came to nothing. Neither side were brilliant to be perfectly frank, City didn't impress me and United were worse still. I think there's a very clear need for three players in the close season and that some simply have to go, we need a centre half to ulitimately replace Vidic and Ferdinand and to work alongside Jones who now has to be given one of the berths as his own. We need some creation at CM and we need some steel at CM. It's fairly clear Kagawa can not/isn't trusted to fill one of the CM roles, something I agree with as he is simply too lightweight to play in England as a central mid player. We don't have anyone who can pull the strings otherwise. We need creation to go alongside Carrick and Cleverly and we need someone like Strootman to ultimately replace/compliment Carrick. Scholes hs now gone for me and Giggs can join him, he ultimately cost us the game with his ridiculous backheel and was blowing in the second half, he is not up to 90 minutes as a CM and so should therefore not be used. Nani can leave also and if there were any bids maybe even Young, although I still think with a boot up the arse he can be a top player. Valencia falls into this category also, if he can not get back to the required level then he is not good enough. I also think the Anderson situation has run its course, he will never be fit enough to fullfill his potential and it is his own fat fault.
We need someone more mobile in midfield as well to close down the space. Think SAF must still be relying on Fletcher returning to play that role in big games. It was ridiculous to see Jones, one of the centre backs, as the player closing down Milner who was shooting from 20 yards out. We had the same problem vs Real - no one closed down Modric on the edge of the area for his goal. Carrick does great against relatively static central midfields like Arsenal and Chelsea barring Ramires. But the top sides like City, Barca and Real move the ball and the players too quickly and we just don't have anyone who can handle that well right now.
I thought we were utter shi t . We never really looked threatening. Rooney always seemed out on the left. Welbeck just ran around like a headless chicken. Our central midfield was abysmal. I personally can't find any positives out the game other than perhaps jones. Clearly winger will go this summer. To make way for zaha .. As to who I don't care they have all under performed this year. Not seen strootman to comment, I'd take modric in a heartbeat. I'd also take cheaply essien
I fail to see what signing Essien would achieve. If we're buying then it has to be for the future, not some patched up old player we should have signed ten years ago who won't make any difference. Be an interesting close season, that's for sure. Let's face it, we should have enough money with all the new sponsorship deals and happy smiling faces.
how come Joe Hart didn't get booked for time wasting, every goal kick he had, he was taking his time.
i saw that advert last night or this afternoon, i cringe everytime i see that, i can't imagine a united player doing that, also i saw a funny picture of phil jones last night, it cheered me up.
Sleep with it under your pillow? Making fun of a banned user who can't reply is pretty low, isn't it?
Mind games. It should have been over last season, and also this season, he's being realistic. No one in the world expects City to catch you lot, no one. It wasn't a 15 point gap with so few games remaining last year was it? I understand not counting chickens n all that but throwing a fiver on City to win the PL is a fiver wasted Buy scratch cards instead
ye have had a good run of results, can't win em all. PLs all but in the bag. Winning the next game makes it far more secure too, win the game after that and well, it's over.
