I left the UK in '71 and came back in '93." No such thing as society" she said. She was right, she had damaged society beyond repair. Unforgivable.
Just one of my silly sayings, Seek., along with feigning outrage and saying "I resemble that remark".
This, this and this Tremendous woman, one of a kind. She stood up for human rights and fought for her beliefs against many a strong leader. First western leader to condemn Saddam Hussein's persecution of the Kurds. Won't go into any discussions about her domestic politics as I'm not in a position to do so. But for an outsider and a reader of history I greatly admire the way she turned around the British economy. It had to be done and she invigorated and modernised it, in hindsight it's easy to see but at the time it was anything but. Maggie Thatcher, RIP.
Unemployment at record 3m and interest rates at record 18% if there were a hell, there would be a reserved space for her to rot in. I hope they've ordered a big dance floor for her grave
give it a rest mate, she wanted a billionaire to pay the same poll tax as a family struggling to pay their mortgage she was ****ing evil and my only regret is that she had a long life
I refused to play that, the poll tax made me proud of the people in this country, well at least for a short time.
Totally spot on. Good to read this before the thread moved onto the inevitable silliness. She is the first pm I remember, and I still enjoy watching the occasional youtube video of her question time. Happiest thatcher memory is of going to watching the film 'The Iron Lady' a few months ago, in which she says, 'I'm not having any of our hard earned British pounds going to the French!' Living in Paris, most of the cinema sat in awkward silence, a few tutted...and my wife and I gripped hands and summoned every ounce of restraint not to cheer!
"This is not a time for celebration. The death of Margaret Thatcher is nothing more than a salient reminder of how Britain got into the mess that we are in today. Of why ordinary working people are no longer able to earn enough from one job to support a family; of why there is a shortage of decent affordable housing; of why domestic growth is driven by credit, not by real incomes; of why tax-payers are forced to top up wages; of why a spiteful government seeks to penalise the poor for having an extra bedroom; of why Rupert Murdoch became so powerful; of why cynicism and greed became the hallmarks of our society. Raising a glass to the death of an infirm old lady changes none of this. The only real antidote to cynicism is activism. Don't celebrate - organise!" Billy Bragg.
The twin sets, the matching handbag and very pointy tits ... What was is the patent bag? A butt plug made from old miners helmets ... Lady I stand before thee ... Thanks for the next directory and the BMW M5 ... I spunked the lot mother x Hope they feed you to diablo's snakes
You should have been in Belfast during her Premiership. That was an interesting time. Heavy S**t, heavy heavy S**T. I'm glad I survived to be honest. I've never seen such things as went on then, crazy xxxking times. And scary too.
