But if we beat Everton at Goodison does that not put us sort of back on track? Or were we expecting to win all games anyway?
Someone had to be brave and start a thread like this!! Well done Frome. Were that to happen, it gives us a very slight chance of catching up I suppose. The trouble is that Bobby is away for Everton, Stoke and Reading and, despite his detractors on here, he is a good hold up player and makes opportunities for others. Then we are faced with Gunners, Newcastle and Liverpool away. DT will be on this thread soon saying it is not over yet and, in absolute terms, he is right of course. We beat Everton there last season thanks to Tommy Smith and Stoke and Reading are winnable..... I don't think we will need to win all six to stay up. 4 and a draw might do it......?? There now! I declared myself a non-believer yesterday and see what your thread has done!!
To be honest mate, I think yesterday was a real 'must win' game. Wigan were happier to deny us 2 points than getting a point for themselves (If that makes sense). I still havn't completely given up but realistically, I'm not planning for the visits of Chelsea, Man U and Arsenal next season
It's still possible, though I don't really believe we will stay up. I did the BBC predictor before the Southampton game and had us going down on goal difference with Wigan escaping. Just done it again and we stayed up on goal difference with Wigan going down. Sunderland and reading were the other 2 relegated. Everton - Draw Stoke - Win Reading - Win Arsenal - Lose Newcastle - Win Liverpool - Win http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/predictor/default.stm
All we can do is look just one game ahead...... and make sure we win the damn thing. Then repeat the operation another four times. We can probably get away with losing the last game then.
If we can not beat Wigan at home, I fail to see how we can win more than 1 or 2 of our remaining games...
I guess until its mathematically impossible it is hard not to retain a slight glimmer of hope although realistically the writing is on the wall. I have a feeling we'll win the next 2 just to raise our hopes.
Same, I almost wish we were mathematically out of it so I can properly relax. The Villa game was the big one for me, but for the thickness of a post we could be heading upwards instead of them.
Its the snippets of 'Hope' that really gets to me when they are dashed, just a quickly. Its not just the Villa and Wigan games that have been our undoing..its been most of the season!.Only lose one more game in the last seven??... No way.
We can win all 6, we have the players and Manager that can do it, the support too, and probably then with 6 wins we will stay up. We won't though if everyone gives up.
TBH I'm pleased Zamora can't play. We did really well yesterday with Remy in the centre. We just have to play differently as Remy is not a target man....but man can he score goals!!? Stick Taarabt behind Remy and go for it imo. I can't see us getting anything at Everton, but you never know in football and yes, if we did somehow win we would be back on track imo.
if you beat everton, there would be a glimmer of hope, cos stoke home reading away is 6 points surely, nufc is winnable and arsenal is a big ask, if you dare to dream, it would be the greatest of greatest great escapes,
It would be typical QPR go on a run only to throw it away in the last game of the season. I think the whole crowd realises were done. I agree with Col, play taarabt behind remy where he can do some damage, not 40 yards away from the goal.
We have won only a handful of games this season and the same last year. We can't even keep clean sheets against the poorest teams in the league. We really are a shambles. It’s hard to keep believing when we are capable of making such basic mistakes week in and week out.
you cant keep making bad mistakes they must end soon, a miracle is needed but you can beat everton who knows, it could be 37 points needed, but if you managed to somehow win the next 3, just don't ask me how
