First time using a poll, so hope this works but:

God has told you that the next two results will be a 5 - 0 win and a 5 - 0 loss. He gives you the option of who we beat and by whom we are embarassingly humliated. What do you choose ?

    Benfica all the way.
It's more important than the SAFC game.
At the end of the day Benfica is a passage to the SF of a European cup.... the mackem game is 3 points.

Progression in europe has to be worth more. Also although they get local bragging rights we get a shot at European glory and it helps ensure the derby for next season.

Benfica, 5:0 will be humiliating against Sunderland but what does it matter in the grand scheme of things? Will it win them a trophy? Did our 5:1 win get us one? Will it influence the decision of potential signings? Nope...

    Delighted by the response.

To me it seems a no brainer but I wondered if others would see it differently.

Premier league survival all the way for me. And a result against Sunderland will all but guarantee that. We wont win the Europa and I want to start relaxing during league games sooner, rather than later.

Benfica for me. It's a no-brainer. Last four of a european competition is worth more, in my opinion, than beating the unwashed.

Beating Benfica 5-0 is realistic and whilst I know God has performed some pretty impressive miracles in his time( the water into wine was a belter), the very notion that the Mackems could beat us 5-0 is beyond even the big 'G's' powers of the unexpected.

The fact that Fredd has come up with the idea tells me he's agnostic and hasn't got a grasp of how God works.

Beating Sunderland would get us 3 points and positions up the table, and almost securing our PL survival. Remember, we've hardly got easily winnable games afterwards, and remember how we thought we were safe a few weeks ago, but we got a few bad results, slipped down the table, and suddenly we were only a few points above the drop again?

Beating Benfica - Would get us through to the next round, and I don't want to sound negative, but this will only be worth it if we go on and win it, and also survive in the PL. I'm not saying we can't do it, but in the position we're in now, I don't think we should be risking anyone.

I think people are little bit too comfortable with our position right now. Wigan will no doubt get a few more wins under their belt, and if Sunderland beat us then they'll be on our tails. A relegation scrap goes on right to the end, and we are not safe yet.

Heck, even beating Sunderland might not be quite enough. 40pts is where you need to be IMO. And with our luck, continuing in our Europa league campaign will lead to injury after injury and could see us ****ting ourselves and looking back to today.

Nice to see you wishing us well. You do realise though we are very devious. We'll bank the goodwill and allow it to carry us to victory, and then spank you anyway.

I think this way round everyone wins (except benfica of course). We both get to beat a team that the rest of the footballing world would recognise as being a bigger team than our own!

    This.

I can't for a minute understand why people think this Europa league game is bigger than the derby. The league is bread and butter and 3 points will always be bigger than a win in Europe, apart from a Semi or final maybe.

I really can't believe people would trade a win against the Mackems for a quarter final win in Europe? I know this is hypothetical, but do we realize what we're comparing here? The Mackems would make a huge dent in our goal difference and move onto 34 points. Supposing Stoke beat Man U (because it's as likely as the Mackems beating us 5-0 at SJP) they would be on 37 points and we're right amongst it again.

No brainier for me either. I'd happily get spanked off Benfica if it meant tanning the Mackems.

People saying our season will be over if we get knocked out of Europe - it was over months ago. I'd take the quarters of the Europa and a top 10 finish now if offered, given the hideous season we've had.

Stop being such a pair of big jessies. Live the European dream!!! Seriously though we have 6 games to get 4 points. We have 3 home games and 3 of the 6 are against teams in the bottom half. If we can't get 4 points out of our remaining games and give Thursday a big effort, we deserve to go. I actually think it might not matter. We looked tired on Sunday and suspect a flat performance on Thursday and Sunday regardless what teams we field. We've gotto have a go though.

One thing for sure is we've done ourselves and the league proud in Europe this year.
