Slovenian newspaper Ekipa has reported that Saints are trying to sign PSV's Tim Matavž, a 24 year old striker from Slovenia. However, they expect competition from the Bundesliga. Matavž has 19 goals in 33 games this season. DTLW
That'd be amazing. I expect some big teams will come in for him though. As for Matavz, I think that'd be a smart signing.

Well he shoots with either foot and looks good in red and white stripes, sign him up. I guess he'll slot in the pecking order below JRod.
According to transfermarkt.co.uk, he's came off the bench 10 times in the Eredivise and scored 3 goals and got 3 assists; so he looks capable of making an impact off the bench.
If Mayuka is not fancied and Lee & Sharp looking likely to be moved on then an extra striker is going to be high on the shopping list I Would like us to go for Geffory Kondogbia of Sevilla as a strong defensive midfielder.
Some good players out of contract and the end of the season. Marc Muniesa - Barca have yet to make a decision on him Douglas - FC Twente good powerful centre back who I think we were linked with in the summer Juan Forlin - CB/CDM, from Espanyol, player signed by Pochettino Franco Di Santo - Wigan can play any of the front 4 positions and is proven in prem
Di Santo isn't a bad shout if they go down. I think he's under-rated. He is strong and mobile with a good touch. He's not as good, but similar to Lambert without the finishing ability.
I think the goals will come and he would fit in perfectly with the way we play. He is decent in the air so would provide good cover for Lambert but is also capable of playing off the striker or in one of the wide postions as well. I do get the feeling from things Martinez has said that he may be looking for big money, he turned down 30k a week at Wigan.
Di Santo is good, he just lacks goalscoring (which can be argued is all that matters for a forward). So I guess it boils down to what type of strikers you rate. The good build up players with a not so great scoring record, like a Di Santo, or the players who offer very little to the build up side of the game, but stick the ball in the net regularly, like a Bent/Defoe. We have been very lucky to have a player who is very good at both in Lambert, but I would say that you could catergorize 90% of strikers in the above 2 categorys.
